Came across this recently..

https://www.hydrogenhybrids.uk.com/

Some of the claims are pretty extroardinary

Benefits

Return on Investment is approximately 9 months based on a 2 litre engine, fitted with a Standard H2R Cell.
Increase your TORQUE and ENGINE PERFORMANCE
Cleaner engine and oils due to reduced hydrocarbon accumulation
Fewer oil and filter changes
Works on PETROL, DIESEL and LPG
36-month Warranty with an option to extend
Quick fit usually under 1 hour
Fitted by the Manufacturer with CE Certification

Torque/Emissions/Fuel Efficiency Improvements
And the modification has been approved by some major insurance companies

Customer Guidance for Insurance and Warranty Companies

This hydrogen on demand system is fitted by the manufacturer.
This hydrogen on demand system is designed to improve the efficiency of the engine to reduce emissions to near zero and improve the mpg. It is an accessory, not a permanent fixture. It connects simply and can be easily removed.
It is not designed as a performance/race device.
The bottom-end torque will increase to allow a smoother drive with a reduced need to change gears, resulting in increased mpg with less revs.
It is not nitrous oxide.
It is an on-demand hydrogen system, which stores no gas on the vehicle.
It makes hydrogen on demand and burns when the engine is switched on.
When switched off there is no gas made or stored.
The original manufacturer’s spec., EFI and ECU is not modified or changed in any way.
It is an enhancement system, to improve combustion, which in turn improves fuel efficiency.
It is an approved product with CE Certification and product liability insurance underwritten by Lloyds of London.
Our customers can receive an Installation Certificate, Service Booklet and Maintenance Guide; and our system is installed by Trained Installers as part of the product warranty.
Refresher training and health and safety updates are available to all installers.
Installation certificates can only be signed by the qualified fitter who has installed the system and this is monitored by de Verde Limited.
Installers are either agents or freelance installers with previous electronic and mechanical experience.
de Verde hold a database of vehicle installation pictures and text by make and type of vehicle and these are reviewed to ensure that the fitting is performed properly.
The hydrogen system must be maintained by the customer and product servicing is provided under the terms of the warranty.
A generic risk assessment has been done for the installation and quality assurance is in place for the product manufacturing.
Torque, emissions and efficiency will improve but not the power/bhp.

What do you make of it?

Sounds like someone selling the idea of a franchise rather than a product. Don't expect much in the way of hard facts and plenty of hyperbole.

They're incredible.

That it's the same run-your-car-on-water scam that's been around since forever ago. See...

https://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/04/why-on-board-hydrogen-generators-wont-boost-your-mileage/

... and many many many many many other debunkings.

Now magnets on the other hand... Rolling Eyes

Short version:

HHO or Browns gas and the method for making it
(you make it when derusting by electrolysis for example) has been known about for years.
Does it work? yes that's been proven
jewelers have been using it in torches when soldering precious metals

The biggest snag is efficiency, ie the amount of energy produced compared to the energy used in making it.
There are youtube videos galore on this subject so if its on the internet it has to be true right?

If say your bikes charging system burns off unneeded energy as heat, you could instead divert this energy to create HH0 and pipe
it into the manifold.
the process is pretty simple really

From here on we hit the snags
My bike (500 twin) for instance sucks in 250ccs of air for every revolution
At 1000 rpm that's 16 times a second so 4000ccs
If I want to add just 10% of HH0 to the mix I need to produce 400c per second and that's just at tickover !

Offhand I don't know how much energy is needed to produce any given volume of HH0 but I do know you don't get owt for nowt
and you will need to use more energy to produce more gas.

If someone finds a way to make shit loads of HH0 for next to bugger all yippee! free, or at least cheap, fuel.

Some simple thermodynamics.

The average dissociation energy of the H-O bond in water is 458.9 kJ/mol. This means that to strip the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen atom takes 458.9 kJ of energy for one mole of water. 1 mole of water is around 18 grams.

So, 1 g of water needs 27.4 kJ energy to strip apart.

To do 1 g per second needs 27.4 kJ/s = 27.4 kW of power.

So, to get the hydrogen out of 1 g of water per second needs 27.4 kW of power. That's about 37 hp.

The spec of the magic machine states it runs at a maximum of 7A from a 12v supply. That's 84W of power.

So at maximum chat, assuming 100% efficiency, this thing can deal with 84/27,400=3 mg of water per second.

3 mg of water will yield around 0.33 mg of hydrogen. 0.33 mg of hydrogen is around 0.00033 moles. The energy of combustion for hydrogen is 286 kJ/mol. So burning our 0.33 mg of hydrogen will yield us 9.44 kJ of energy. If we do this every second, that's 9.44 W

So for an 84W input, we get a 9.4W return. At 100% efficiency.

If anybody wants to check my working, feel free - I did this in a hurry and may have missed a factor somewhere.

Thanks Fellas,

I was hoping someone would come in with some 'SCIENCE bitch!'
and explain why its too good to be true.

For the record, I did do a search, so apparently im the first guy dumb enough to entertain the thought of it on this forum

Think of how driven the auto-industry is these days in terms of hunting for efficiency and driving down emissions.

If these things were remotely useful they'd be fitted as OE and pushed hard with a load of eco-wank
