I've used many companies over the years, currently paying 270 for my bike as it was the first registered in the UK.

However....I would like some recommendations rather than 'don't go there' posts. I know who's shafted me over the years, and who's been good.

Tl.Dr... your recommendation please...
Customer service over low cost.

I'd assume that any good experience was accidental, one-off, and an historical quirk.

^^^This. I wrote off a car some years ago and the insurance company was great (translation: payed out over the odds). I still assume any future interactions will be more likely to involve lubricant, that way I enter any interaction with the right frame of mind and if it turns out well I get a pleasant surprise.

None of them are your friends, they can all be shitty come claim time. The best you can do is find one that suits your needs, regarding admin charges for switching bikes* etc.

* Paddy gave me a list Smile

All of them, be uninsured and lock your bikes up.

It doesn't actually matter, be legit in your policy, don't try and worm your way out of shit and just deal with it. Shout loudest and you'll win.

Bennetts

Been with them on and off for a few years.

Their customer service is decent enough and are relatively quick to process things. Recently made a claim for theft and was dealt with in a very professional manner. No quibbles when it came to getting me covered for new bike either and even threw in a discount to offset loss of NCB from the theft.

Their underwriters on the other hand (Axa) were not so efficient and it took a lot of phone calls and a complaint email to get things moving along.

Thanks for all responses, currently looking at 90 with Bennetts or 130 with their add ons.

Heard shitty stories about pretty well all the big ones so I just go for the cheapest quote with the smallest excess (fully comp as my bike was expensive).

Excess...compulsory only ranged from £175 (devitts) to £750 (mce). Always gone fully comp with anything over 2k value.

Don't forget the cashback. Wink

£23 in this case. https://www.topcashback.co.uk/bennetts_motorbike_insurance/

And because I'm a cheap whore, here's a spammy referral link for topcashback: https://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/sokas

Using my referral link makes no difference to how much cashback you receive, it just means they give me some free money. Smile

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't all insurance companies going to treat you like crap?

You know, all they really want is money, and they don't want to give you money.

Hastings / Hastings Direct

there's been two instances of members on this forum being fucked over by them, one of which involved them collecting the bike from the police storage and selling the salvage.

No claim on the insurance had been made so essentially they'd sold the owner's bike.
