...so managed to get the bike out for a quick blat this afternoon!
Being a fair-weather biker, I don't think it's been out of the shed for over a month.
Didn't go that far (about 25 miles I think), just far enough to warm the bike up, remember how to ride it and start feeling the cold in my fingers - note to self must get better winter gloves - but it was enough to make me realise how much I'd been missing it.
Road surfaces seemed OK to me, but my other half (who was out with me) said he kept losing his back end on roundabouts because of the salt. I told him maybe he shouldn't go into them quite so hard then!
I was pleased to note that the cheap stuff we squirted it all over with last time we put it away seemed to have done the trick as there was no furring or rusting anywhere that I could see, so gave it another good squirt then came in to have some hot chocolate & sit by the fire.
Looking forward to spring already. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

You're not on your own, It had a spring- ish feel down here too, and it was just begging to be exploited. It was the first time I've ridden for anything other than necessity for ages, and I'd almost forgotten how good it can be. I was feeling so bouncy that I' even cleaned all the salt from last weeks Bracknell mercy dash off when I got home, so now she's gleaming. ____________________ I was only doing what it said on my licence officer....

yea, it looked like it here, nice sunshine, cold, but i can take it, so i met a fellow nc30 rider in cambridge. about half an hour into the ride......snow and hail...then on our way to a pub to play pool, watch the england rugby and see what the weather was gonna do, and a blizzard happens, i couldnt see past 50 meters in front and i was riding with my feet down like out riggers.
bastard weather, but bring on the ring ____________________ www.wilcollinsphoto.co.uk |

Oh, if anyone's interested the "cheap stuff" came from the pound shop, it's in a green tin and it's called Super Maintenance Spray, made by CarPride.
Looks & smells like WD40, but at only £1 for a big tin you can really give your bike a good coating with it! ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Yep I went out for about an hour, was sunny enough to try out my inbuilt helmet sun visor. Turned round for home when the snow started to fall though. ____________________ Suzuki RF 600 - The two wheeled Testarossa (Deceased)

nah I am really serious I really drove to work and wore long pants!
does your face feel burnt or numb if you ride in the cold? the coledest I have ever felt was when I had my ZZR 250 and rode about 100km at 5:30 in the morning, the temperature was a very cold 6 degrees and I was wearing 2 singlets, a T-shirt, a jumper, my leather jacket and pants, a neck warmer scarf thing a pair of winter gloves 2 pairs of socks and my boots. I swear my whole body felt like it had frost bite! the coldest I have EVER been ____________________ Those bloody footpegs......they ought to do away with em! |

1st of March. Spring has officially started. So somewhere between now and October there's gonna be a week of decent weather that counts as British summertime (Although there's nothing to say that week will be on 7 consecutive days). |

Spring!!?? Zoffo, it's snowing in Scotland again!!
I must be getting used to the cold. Was out with a thin layer under my leathers on sunday. The sun was out but it was still cold. Got my first fly in the eye too of the year!
It's not that bad riding in the cold, but my tyres don't want to hook up to the road unless it's warm. Got some decent lean angles going but still not totally confident in scrapping my knee. Can't seem to commit that last inch or so cause of the cold. ____________________ Old bikes >>> https://www.bikepics.com/members/cc123/ |
