Holy Bike Insurance Batman!

If all goes according to plan, tomorrow I will be collecting my first bike, a 99-00 SV650S in black.

I have made a few online enquiries in the past to check for prices, but never put much effort into to. So, today was a good day to check properly!

I started with months Ride magazine and went through the adverts:

Based on 28 yrs old, no no-claims, no previous riding experience and garaged on a night.

Express Insurance: £278.83 (inc legal) which seemed resonable.

BikeSure: £232 (inc legal) which seemed ever better.

Hastings: Couldn't understand the guy who answered the phone so I hung up.

Carole Nash: Your call is in a queue....blah blah

And the winner........

Bennetts: £132 per year with legal cover! Shocked

At that price, I can't actually be bothered to ring any more Laughing

I got a quote from Bennets and it was through the roof! After a few more phone calls I got a quote that was £400 cheaper from Motorcycle Direct!

I rang Norwhich Union the other day and a paki answered. I hung up and rang again then an oriental answered. Laughing

Must be cheap labour.

Thats what annoys me! I have no problem with people from a different racial background to me but at the end of the day you can't understand a bloody word they say! lol. Apparentely a lot of people with large call centres are actually situated in places like India because as you say the labour is cheap.

At one time I had 5 insurance policys running, all with Norwich union direct. Every time I (eventually) got through to them It was to an indian call centre. It made complex calls very difficult and often ended up in me simply hanging up the phone.

Norwich Union direct now has £0 from my pocket.

Might be cheap labour, but they wont need labour if they cant keep the customers.
