I've been having a problem where my controller is lasting a measly half an hour before dying. So I was considering doing a fairly common upgrade replacing the battery which is 1000mah to 2000mah. Which should easily double the battery life.

However I was wondering before I do it has anyone else done it before also are the really cheap batteries worth it on ebay or are there any better makes around Question

I've noticed a reduced lifespan too, hadn't realised you could replace the battery tbh.
Handy thread.

I was at my friends house the other day and he was sitting right infront of his 50" tellybox playing his PS4.
I asked him why he was so close and he said the controller battery was dying out real fast and he had to pretty much keep it plugged in to charge it, while he was in online games as it always ran out at key times.

I then pointed out that he can just sit back at his sofa and plug his phone charger into it from the wall outlet next to him.

He did the most authentic 'Doh' I've ever heard. Turns out he's been doing this for around 6 months now.
Very Happy

I know it's not hard or difficult don't mind changing it I was just wondering if anyone else had done it and if they recommended a brand of battery. I've been screwed over by cheap shoddy replacement batteries from the past with poor build quality.

Mine is less than 12 months old I believe. Can't actually remember when I purchased it now.

If you haven't already, reduce the light brightness of the controller. It can not be turned completely off, but you can reduce it. I don't have any specific numbers, but I do charge the controller less, with reduced brightness. It's in the ''PS button'' menu.

Within a year I'd be moaning, but I'd also remember where I bought them Razz

Sounds like a common fault then.

Mine are only a month or so old, so something to keep an eye out for I guess.
I know batteries don't last forever but seems like a short life.

Cheers I'll have a look at doing that when I get back I want to try get it sorted as it should help the wrist. Especially with movement now that the cast is off.
