Running rich, smelling, no choke to start it??????????
Sounds like the choke is stuck on or the carb is flooding ?????????
Have you any leaks under the bike????????????

Partial credit for the vid effort
but its dark, crap sound when engine running
( cam mic may be too close, back off !)
and you don't keep the bloody camera still

So, 0.008 and 0.011 eh? what? inches or mm?
I'd expect the valve clearances to be around say 0.1mm inlet and
0.12mm exhaust or 0.004 and 0.005 inches/thou

Why no electric start? one of my lads has the Arrow version
probably same or similar engine and all quite simple really
so hopefully it just needs a bit of TLC.

Just had a google and see the XTRS uses the 156FMI
so, its an OHC engine.
The lads previous bike had similar and we found the cam chain tensioners
are piss poor and can easily work loose.
I'd want to inspect the valve timing to see if it's slipped at all
so would remove the cam sprocket side cover and crank case plug and see if the marks line up

Cheers for the replies guys. Nope no leaks from what I can see. Choke lever aint stuck open . Yeah sorry for quality, holding a 10 inch tablet after a few beers proves to be a task in itself lol. Does have electric start but battery is knackered and couldnt be bothered to get my booster out in the dark. Yes inlet is .008 (.203mm) and outlet is .011 (.279mm) . Reason for this is because I was told that the stock settings is 008 inlet and 015 oulet, though 015 seemed very tappy so I reduced it slightly. Saw one of the guys on here has set both inlet and outlet to 008and it runs nice so I may try that and fiddle with the carb. See how it goes. If still bad I will have to take your suggestion and check.the chain timing, which I can tell will irritate me if its wrong because of lack of space to work around the frame. Ive turned lazy to what I used to be. There was a time id look fir an excuse to rip a engine out
