Hi all,
Read an old post regarding this since I am having the nightmare fogging & freezing issues we all know & love!!
However the one recommended on that post is not suitable for flip front full face lids, any recommendations for one that is?
Many thanks!!
Smile

Pinlock visor for your lid, crack the visor open a touch, polish the inside with toothpaste (weird, but true), Rain-X on the inside...

Obviously, not all at once.

I'm having similar issues; the respro foggy works brilliantly on my full face lid, but my favoured C3 Pro can't handle it - and I sometimes overwhelm the Pinlock on that (I think part of the issue is that the neck seals pretty well even without the chin curtain in).

Anyway, the last couple of days I've had a bandana over my mouth and nose which seems to have helped a lot as it absorbs some of the moisture from my breath - so minimal misting around the un-pinlocked area of the visor. But it has only been cold rather than damp, and the sun visor still fogged up (as breath does escape upwards past my eyes). Not ideal, but maybe worth a minimal/zero cost try.

Just don't use whitening paste!

Pinlock are great if you can fit one.

How bad is the mist?, I mean I get misting and fogging and rain on the inside if I have the visor up in the rain (shoei air GT) but it's just acceptable, I'd say about 40% reduction in visibility And 80% in visible detail.. On a cold cold, wet night

My old avg was terrible, no pinlock, crap breath Guard

Do you use a snood, balaclava ?, I find having anything over my mouth and nose causes my breath come out each side of my nose making the lid breath gaurd pointless.

I still ride with a snood pulled up over my ears, nose and mouth, but if it's bad weather for visor fogging I just wear it round my neck, it does help with the lids breath gaurd installed.

To be honest I was going to ask on here if this is why Guy Martain wears his lid halfway up is face?? But though better of it..

Pinlock inside your visor is your friend here. Or learn to hold your breath for the whole journey.

Toothpaste?? Seriously??? And I was under the impression that rainex was not recommended on polycarbs or plastics! :/

Fogging is bad enough for me to prefer to ride with my visor up, especially at night. Since this is not the ideal at speeds, with gritters & crap being blown about (my contact lenses don't like it),I have to work on a combination!! :/

I've heard about the pin lock type things but I use my peripheral vision quite a lot & really struggle with loss of clarity there!! :/

Why not? It's a gentle grinding paste, same as PlastRX.

I've been using it for years on a variety of visors without any problems at all. On the outside though, I'm not sure what it'll do on the inside. Worth a try.

As for rain look through it.

I ride with a smoked visor all year round.

this is actually one of the most sensible suggestions he has said

except the cable tie bit that's a bit pikey Laughing

Yup. It's what I do, pinlocks are not available for my favoured lid. I reapply it very week by buffing it with a microfibre cloth. That, and cracking the lid if it's really bad, works a charm for me. YMMV.

It's not as good as Rain-X, but I strongly dislike the smell of Rain-X when applying it. Never had an Issue using Rain-X (inside and out) on any of my lid's.

Suffered from this today. Did a 2 hour swim with my team and came out hot and flustered. I have a pin lock installed but also needed to wear my sunglasses as there was a strange orange thing in the sky. Whenever I stopped at lights I couldn't see a sodding thing - misted up within seconds and took 10 seconds or so of riding for the mist to go. I was having flashbacks of that video of the guy blinded by the sun riding into the back of stationary traffic. It was a very sedate commute home. Nothing really to add. Carry on.

Respro foggy would be my suggestion simply because it's the only thing that reliably stops my glasses, internal sun visor and main visor from fogging throughout winter and in rain.

Pinlock is great too if it's sealed right but it won't stop glasses from fogging if you wear them.

The problem with foggy is they don't work in flip front helmets.

Lol just today i ordered a anti fog pinlock for my lid... When ever im going a little slow or stopping at a light, I have to hold my breath.

Trouble also is I ware glasses and they mist a bit too.

Im riding almost all the time with the visor at least a little open.

As for toothpaste? Honestly Im doubting this because its abrasive. Wont it scratch the visor?

Also im wearing a small sized lid but it fits me snugly... Though normally most would say im a medium or large. In anycase. i can pucker my lips and kiss the front of my lid. So when i mouth breath it really mists up. And i get loads of moisture there...

Toothpaste is an old Divers trick. You can't exactly crack them off 100ft down and wait for them to clear. Works surprisingly well. It's not abrasive like sandpaper, more like a very, very fine polishing compound.

Your call though.

Consider perhaps the question is not how to prevent fogging in an a flip front helmet, but what models of helmet are most accommodating to anti-fog features?

So you're advocating my binning my current lid which I have only had for a year & buying a new one with great anti fogging technology built in or which is suitable for many of the various offerings out there for the function?!?!
Not sure the wife will swallow that one!! Wink

Not that I've ever heard of. We just gob in the mask just before going under, swill it all round, then rinse off in the water.

The mine divers I explore with showed me. Maybe it's just underground? I dunno, they said it was an old divers trick, it works, that's as far as I get.
