I have just listed a exhaust on ebay buy it now, now it has be purchased, but being a cycnical bastard I'm just not sure its legit. The buyer is listed as having a account in thailand but the address to send is some where in wales, the account has 100% positives with 280 purchases some in the uk some germany etc no sales ever. whilst I think yeah ok, it just seems odd that the account is registered in thailand, and I don't wish to be scammed . so what is the BCF massive thoughts on this legit or some scam? buyer has requested a invoice.
Thanks |

As long as you have the money and there's no chance the money will disappear, send the exhaust to whereever and don't worry Just watch incase the buyer complains to eBay about something and you end up having to give a refund or something. Ebay seems to support buyers much more than sellers and seems to sometimes be rather harsh on sellers. Ebay isn't what it used to be ____________________ I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.

So presumably the buyer's paying by PayPal? You don't say.
Assuming so - gfo and read up PayPal's Seller Protection Policy. One of the main things to watch out for is whether the delivery address is listed as "Confirmed" on the email you get from PayPal notifying you of payment received. That means PayPal have verified the address is kosher as far as they are concerned (I think it means the customer has had stuff delivered there before, uneventfully); if the address is not confirmed (which is not in itself an indicator of definite dodginess); then be careful.
Also - check the email says "This item is eligible for Seller Protection" (I can't see why it wouldn't).
Definitely used a signed-for service.
What you don't want is a buyer complaining 'Item Significantly Not As Described" which could get you a chargeback unless you guard against it. The suggestion to take loads of photos with today's newspaper is a good one. Is there a serial/model number that you can photograph? A lot of sellers will mark their stuff invisbly (eg UV pen) to guard against the scrote who complains their goods are broken etc, and then return a different, broken item to the seller and get a refund off PayPal.
Have I put you off yet?
I've been ebay selling on and off for years; never had a problem with dodgy buyers. ____________________ KC100->CB100N->CB250RS--------->DL650AL2->R1200RS->R1250RS |
