I've just recieved a notice of intended prosecution from Kent Police for doing 57mph on the Dartford Tunnel Approach Road, but the letter doesn't contain any photographic evidence. Is this normal? I was always under the impression that they had to provide the photographic evidence in the letter. Is this not the case any more?

Ummm ... it was. I remember getting flashed on the M11 back in 2005 and a letter with photographic evidence was sent through the post a few days later.

You can request it if you intend to contest it but it doesn't ordinarily come with the NIP.

They don't have to send the photos with the NIP.

It's a shame you don't get a souvenir photo for your £100 Sad I know people who have got one though (without contesting).

Yeah, just reading up on it they don't seem to send them out any more. Funniest one I saw whilst researching it, was this fella who got done doing 40 in a 30mph zone.

Apparently they the Austin owner's club have these photos as badges of honour.

Some send them out, others don't. It's always been that way, nothing has changed.

If you want to get copies of the photos then you'll be able to find out how on pepipoo.

Aren't they average speed cameras there? Thought they just read your plate without taking a piccy.

True story- About 6 years ago I was picking up a bag of weed from a lad in Tottenham on my way home from work.
I parked in the side road next to the BP on the old Tottenham one way system. Stopped on a double yellow line for all
of 5 minutes while I waited for the yute to arrive on his BMX. Paid the lad, took my weed and facked off home.

Some days later I received a photo of my car complete with drug dealer handing me my weed through the passenger
window as unbeknownst to me the parking restriction was monitored by a camera up on a lampost. I paid my fine and
kept fingers crossed that would be the end of it. Luckily it was.

Some insurance companies now seem to ask if you've done a speed awareness course so it might not save anything, insurance wise, to done one instead of paying the bribe and taking the points.

They can ask all they like, but how are they going to find out?

AFACT, there's no national records and it doesn't appear on your driving history. Each local Plodfarce handles their own blackmail scheme, and kickbacks from the courses get funnelled into their "retirement fund". They have a vested interest in not co-operating with insurers, to keep the money flowing in.

Are you not getting insurance by misrepresentation by saying no, if you have? I'm no legal expert, nor legal amateur.

At this point, I would imagine Rogerborg would just repeat what he just said. I would.

A local record for the local Farce. People can and do get offered courses in different police areas.

To date, I've not heard of anyone being caught out by insurers asking for and receiving information on them.

That's not to say that it won't happen, only that at the moment, it wouldn't concern me to accidentally forget that I'd done one. Selective amnesia, innit, is you discriminate?

just a small point

when I had my accident I got offered a course I was told if I took it they would not consider prosecution for dd

which I took

I was told it was in confidence and the other party wouldn't know about it

few weeks after I got a stupid offer direct from the other parties solicitor saying as I was obviously in the wrong would I drop the case as I had done a course therefore admitting to it

so its not as well hidden as people think
