Has anyone had any recent experience wiht HG jackets. THinking of getting a new textile one for over winter riding. Years back Ride rated the Master v as good value, this latest version is Master 7, except before it was Goretex but this latest is their own version Shelltex waterproofing.

Given their recent history, I'd assume that any modern HG gear is just marked-up mid-range stuff that you could get for less with a different name on it.

It may not be, but the downgrade from Gore-Tex is hardly an argument in their favour.

As Roger said, They used to be top quality. But recent liquidation issues, store closures, etc I would be a bit wary of the quality. I had a pair of summer gloves that lasted the guts of 5 years and were only replaced because the palm started wearing through after constant use. Gutted to see them go and have not had a pair that equal them.

Many years ago HG kit was pretty damn good, I had some HG trousers which were immense but as pinkyfloyd says I'd be wary nowadays.
