Re the 2 second rule, it takes 2 seconds to say 'only a fool breaks the 2 second rule' say it twice for wet weather, (4 seconds) on icy roads that jumps to 10 seconds, with experience you'll get to know how close to be. Also remember during your mod2 to not sit too close to stationery traffic at lights/junctions, sit far enough back from cars so you can see their rear tyres and a bit of road, sticking to those simple rules will turn accidents into near misses.

Car driver brakes for no real reason (road was clear in front of him)

In all fairness, the car driver probably didn't have something that showed him that The Road Ahead Is Clear and by the looks of it, neither did the OP. This all could have been avoided if AA came into our lives sooner

...and that's an insult to big girls!

I have been biking for the grand total of 4 months, with 2 crashes to my name already. First one definitely wasn't my fault. Oil, diesel or a.n.other slippery substance on the road as I approached the lights. Was a wet day so I didn't see it. I braked and my front wheel just seemed to slip along the road, I had two options, go into the car infront, or bin it. I'm TPO so I decided to bin it (well that and I didn't fancy my head smashing through the rear window)

Second wasn't my fault, but I def could have avoided it. Car driver brakes for no real reason (road was clear in front of him) again it was a wet day, I brake, but it's not enough I brake harder and I know unless I pull the lever hard I'm going into the back of him, so I bin it again! If I had used back brake too I would have stopped on time, I just panicked...

Anyway I got a new bike, but I am nervous on it, not leaning over enough in the wet, braking very early and not going above 30 in anything less than perfect conditions! I'm being a proper shit bag basically! Any advice, or should I just get on and practice more?!

You sound like a terrible rider then, or just a liar.

You can see oil/diesel because it is a very clear rainbow reflection on the road, regardless of water because it does not mix with water. Avoid it, or go through it straight while easing off the throttle.

Secondly, if you rear end a car, it is always your fault, no matter what. You must have a 2 second gap between the vehicle in front. If it's wet, you must have 4 seconds. If you're behind a big vehicle like a truck, keep pulling back until you can see his mirrors.

Maybe being a road user isn't for you I'm afraid to say. You're lucky to be relatively unscathed after 2 crashes.
