I am on SKY and need to change my IP address. I don't know how to do this. Someone at the monthly dominos games at the pub last night said unplug your sky modem box at the wall over night and do something with ipconfig to release in a command box. I don't understand the latter, I can do the former, just turn it off. I doubt that this would give me another countries IP address though?

Someone else mentioned a programme that you click a button and it automatically changed your IP address, I am trying to access content in the USA and it says 'not available in your location'. So I need an American IP address. I can BUY a service for £4.99 a month but the downside is it is £4.99 a month, so that won't be happening.

Can anyone help?

gotta be easy than messing around trying to spoof your IP or bouncing via proxy is the USA.

I love it when people with a little knowledge try to do techie stuff. It's rather amusing.

I'd suggest not messing about trying to get a new IP address, as all that will happen is you'll be issued another IP address from the Sky pool. You'd be better off using a VPN to the USA. There are plenty around although it may result in a very low connection performance. Ultimately though as others have said you'd be better off attempting to get the same content via another method such as Kodi etc.

A big thank you to everyone that contributed. A friend has put something on my wife's laptop called Banana vpn. This makes it look like she lives in California so she can access what she needs to, it is not costing a penny so all is good, free 3 month trial for previous members or some such baloney.
