Was going to post this straight away but police reckoned they had a lead and asked me not to post anything online until they had followed up. That lead was a dead end so here's my post...

My bike was stolen on Tuesday 28th from the Minories Car Park, by Tower Hill.

Picked up the bike Monday morning from garage after some repairs. Parked at the car park as normal on Tuesday morning around 8. Went back just after 6 and it was gone.

Two bikes were taken that day, mine and a 2012 ZX6R.

To get to mine then cut a slice out of the brake disc and slid the disc lock out. Found the piece of brake disc and disc lock discarded to the side of where I parked.
The other guys bike was chained to one of the railings. They cut through the chain.
They also started cutting through the chain of another ZX6R but left it, perhaps got disturbed and legged it.

Police are reviewing CCTV but so far no leads and frankly I've given up hope.

Second bike stolen in a matter of months. Insurance woes to follow Crying or Very sad

As much as I want to, I can't disagree with you!

Well, an ER6 perhaps, slightly more fun.

That is just so awful for you, total sympathy.

Trouble is, it will keep happening until the bill make better efforts and that those caught suffer severe penalties. I favour their deletion...

In all honesty i would pack up bikes altogether if i lived in London and had no where to park it securely 24/7.Either that or move out and commute in.

I've never had a bike stolen and I've been riding into London regularly for 20 years.

Still keen to get back in the saddle once insurance have settled but it depends how bad the insurance hike is this time. If it exceeds half the cost of a season ticket I won't be able to justify it financially.

The judiciary is the problem, as is the bleeding heart liberals who will meltdown if the fuzz start punting the cnts off
the bikes with their patrol cars. what's the point of nicking them just for them to be sent away with a 10p a month
fine deduction from their jobseekers. The scumsucking Adam Nolan (Ha-ha, you're dead) case in Bristol is evidence of the 'it's just a biek' culture.

True, but what will be our choice of crappy cheap commuter hack once the ULEZ comes into play in 2020 (or maybe 2019)? Is there much that can be had around £1k, newer than 2007, reliable enough to run year round and not totally shit to ride?

A search on AutoTrader of all bikes after 2007, under £1.5k and over 500cc, gives me two results! An Suzuki GS500 k5 and Hyosung GT650. And Suzuki is registered June 2007, so may get hit by ULEZ anyway!

Is that the bay along the street or the multi story whatsit? The latter I always thought was pretty secure in terms of cctv etc?

A friend took his Volusia into some workshop in London a while back. About a week after he got it back it was stolen from under a cover, alarmed and locked. He was convinced the shop cloned his keys and alarm fob and nicked his bike.

Of course battery powered angle grinders are now the weapon of choice for scumbags and what can you do, Even an Almax won't stop one of those.

ER6f would be my pick for that budget.

The multi storey.

I've been parking there for about 6 years and never had any issues. Every now and then I hear of bikes being stolen from there. Always thought they were bikes left without locks or chains etc. But clearly nothing is safe.

They have CCTV but as mentioned, it amounts to nothing if you can't see anyone or anything to get a lead from.

Sorry to read that op. Sad

Alas, if some low life really wants to take your bike, there's really very little you can do about it. Especially when left in a public area. This is one of the reasons that I take the bus down to my dads 99% of the time (a fairly dodgy area of Liverpool), as even with two alarmed disc locks and chained to some railings, if they see it on a regular basis they'll be tooled up waiting for it and it'll be gone before I get down the couple of flights of stairs.

Thumbs Up Drives me insane. Police are so crippled in their powers to deal with these folk, pursuits are rarely allowed happen with cars these days never mind bikes. Even when they are caught the sentencing is vastly inadequate. 100x worse when they are under 16 or subject to social work cuddles.

You're not wrong. A guy I worked with was driving a stolen car, got in a police chase, crashed it and thanks to his social worker got completely let off Confused

Well, it's not as if he did something serious, like finding a twenty pound note.
