Also, unless he's lightened it a fair bit, I suspect weight is more around 130kg dry or so.

My plan is still to put a 500cc mx engine in a GP250 chassis and road register it.

if you read the whole lot youll see that he mentions the fact that it has an awsome powerband and that he has done a lot to reduce the weight as hes thrown a lot of the old mito stuff out, and hes said it weighs around 100kg, i know he could be bullshitting but mito are very light as it is.

It will weigh more than 100kg, there is no way it weighs that, how can you make a bike weigh 30kg less by putting a bigger engine in, also how can you make a bike weigh 30kg less buy just using lighter materials............

30kg is a lot of weight to have to lose, id give it 130kg minimum.

Still would no doubt eat all the boys on their rs's nsr's and mito's, if only it was still registered as a 125, id love to buy that and see the look on my mates face when it eats his 35bhp tuned rs.

He also says it is "a pussycat to tickle along on the massive torque at low down revs". These engines are not designed for top end power as they have enough for off road use and having it fairly flexable is more use than a bit more top end power.

Weight wise Cagiva claim 121 for a stock early Mito. Assume that this one having the USD forks is slightly heavier.

However the Mito engine is a heavy lump. It would not surprise me if the KX engine is half the weight of the original 125 engine. 100 might be possible.

Yes but he doesn't actually say it weights 100 kg ts50x0, to quote him he says "At a guess I'd say it weighs in around 100 kilos"

Obviously hes never weighed it before but hes just trying to point out that its going to lighter than some other bikes.

My speedfight is 98kg and the mito isnt that much heavier so it is probably 100 - 120kg.

But a 2 stroke 500cc Cool

A NS500 weighs around 110kg and makes 150hp. Ok, that was a full on GP bike, but tyre are way better than that in a straight line.

Apart from the really crappy/long life ones, tyres only start to slide when you're getting the power on while leant over.

Also, doubt it would 'smoke' a 600. It still has half the power, as well as two thirds the weight. Now you can tune them up to get a tad over 100hp I believe, then it would start to get interesting Smile

In a straight line it would definitely lose out... the 600s front wheel will be skimming the road 'till about 50-60. The 500 will have less weight to keep the nose down (though less weight to accelerate as well) and will have to change gear way sooner.
