exhausts?

Ok, so im wondering why i'm thinking of buying a new exhaust for my 4 stroke 125 and just wanted to know how they work and what they do. (I only know about 2 stroke exhausts.)

I don't want it for any change in power or anything but just for the sound and looks.

basically the sporty exhausts have less baffles in them and as a result they flow more gas than a standard pipe, this also gives a louder sound frpm the pipe. My ZX-6R has a micron pipe on it and it is extremely loud at 15,000RPM but more so I like the low down growl from it, being a straight through pipe with no baffles it is probably too loud actually also another thing I noticed was after I fitted a new air filter the induction roar was much louder
