Hey guys. Changing jobs and home so means i will need to have a tailbag to carry all my gym kit with me so can go on way back home. What can i realistically fit in a us20 and us30? Price doesn't bother me. Will fit to my little cbr.
Looking to fit - pair of trainers, shorts, vest, tshirt, towel and shower gel, 2L water bottle,1.5m almax series IV

Cheers

You'll easy get that in the 30.

The smart money might be to buy a 20 and a 10 though, and keep the chain separate to the rest of your gear.

Expensive, but well designed to be easy to use drypack tailbag.

The 10, 20, 30 refers to litres storage capacity. They're also modular, so you can stick a 30 on the seat and strap a 10 either side.

They come with a strap hook for each corner. You place these under the seat and then attaching the bag is just hooking it to those straps. Easy.

You could practically move house with a US30 Laughing , but as above probably sensible to stick all your kit in a US20 and keep a US10 for the chain.

I've got a 20 and can fit :

- laptop
- Size 11 shoes
- Spare waterproof
- Phone / charger / cables etc
- Suit jacket

in easily.

I've no idea how big your chain is, but Id agree with the 20 + 10 idea.

<sharpens stick>

I looked at Kriega, again, on my last visit to the bike shop but ended up walking away because my view that they're nothing but a glorified overpriced dry roll bag stands, there's nothing to them.

Oxford tailpack works for me and beside one issue with the zip it's all good. Waterproof cover has kept everything dry in all that I've encountered in my time with it so far. Cost like fiddy quid or something.

Alternatives are available.

Agree.

But if you want a 100% waterproof bag to just chuck stuff in and transport somewhere with minimal faff...

It does the job. 👍

price isn't an issue, I am more interested in 100% waterproof, easy to fit, easy to get on and off, I value simplicity over price tbh.

does the US10 fit on-top of the US20 or to one side? as if I had the chain in the US10 on one side wouldn't it cause the bike to lean slightly? it is only a tiddler with my 19stone self on it, or perhaps I can just leave the chain at the gym anyway as I know the owners.

what could I fit in the US30 or would it be overkill for what I am trying to fit?

The US10 stacks on top of the 20.

In the 30 you could fit enough kit to live for a week plus your chain, it's total overkill.

I absolutely agree with you - I have a 60L rolltop dry bag and it was less than a third of the price of my US30; but it's a faff to use so unless I am running out of space, I'll use the Kreiga.

On other bikes with better bungee points and the like it may be different but I got fed up with fiddling to attach things to the Sprint. Can imagine my KTM will be easier actually but not tried yet.

I bought a 30 but in hindsight maybe a 20 would have been better, I had to keep rain gear in it to help fill, lots of space.

I have a us20 and think it's pretty handy. I've never filled it right up, despite having done a ride with:
- a pair of knee-high boots
- a change of clothes
- 'overnight' stuff (this consisted of toothbrush, makeup removers, makeup, deodorant, moisturiser)
- phone & charging cable
- water bottle
- think there was a spare sweater in there as well..

As others have said, get a 20 for your kit and a 10 or even a 5 for your chain. The 10 latches on top of the 20, ala:

https://farm1.static.flickr.com/180/456487296_ee3cbe01fb.jpg

*edit: something to note is that if the 20 isn't full it is a bit fiddly, at least for my bike, to compress the bag down and attach it. There's loads of extra strappage that I find annoying.

If you bought one and used it, you would see why so many people recommend them. Well put together with quality materials, 100% waterproof without the need for a cover, totally stable and secure, can stack and attach other Kriega bags, easy to fit and remove.

I've used mine on lots of weekends and trips round Europe. Can honestly say I have not found anything that compares.

Even though I now have the top box - I still use the 20 for the stuff I want to take into the office.

Chuck it in the top box beforehand.
Remove it at the other end and it becomes a hold all.

Very convenient.

O right. Yeah, didn't factor that in.

I may be a convert one day but until the Oxford gives in I'll save me pennies towards something else.

Personal preference. Although as above I doubt I'd be looking elsewhere if my bike didn't have points to attach a bungee hook to.

It is a lot of money for convenience, that much is true.

It's a great bit of kit, but it's also an expensive one.

Absolutely bum kriega 20 and 10 here like.

Always thought they were a rip off before i had one tbh. Read the universal good reviews of them on the net and make your mind up then, rather than listening to some first big bike punter too scared to use 3rd gear for advice on the matter

Careful, you're sounding a bit but-hurt there digging up old threads because I said "omg alternative to Kriega available."

Seems someone's not capable of a sensible adult conversation.

I giggled, taking the internet way too seriously.

Thumbs Up

Carrying an Almax Series4 around everywhere?!?!

They weigh an absolute fuckton.

I wouldn't bother personally.

In fact, I don't bother. My Almax secures my bike at home. If i'm out and about, rarely do I find myself parking a bike for long enough, in dodgy enough places to warrant a chain at all, let alone a bloody Almax!

Be pretty "on it" with checking your bag integrity and the straps/mounts. That seems like a lot of weight to put, even, in a Kreiga.

I have the 10 and 20 combo. I nearly went for the 30 but the size meant it would be overhanging the sides on the SV650 so opted for narrower 20. I haven't actually needed to use them in combo yet as the 20 holds more than I'd imagined and works best when full.

Great bags. Simple, quick attachments.
