Hi all

I was wondering whether anyone might be clued in about this.

Today, I removed the legshield from my Honda C90 and discovered that there are 2 loose thin rubber pipes coming from the carburettor unit. One of them comes out of the side, and the other comes out from directly underneath the unit, to which it is attached vertically. The latter pipe had a couple of drops of oil or oil and petrol coming out of it. I squeezed it out and that's all there was in it. The pipe coming out of the side was dry.

Weirdly, the bike seems to be working just fine in every way. With the legshield off, I examined it with the engine running, revving it up a bit. No substance came out of either pipe.

Now I'm baffled. Is it something harmless like perhaps a broken choke cable, or is it supposed to have 2 loose pipes by design (e.g. for dealing with fuel overflow from the carburettor)? Or have I been running the bike while the oil pump has been disconnected?

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Could be that they are overflow pipes and quite normal...

Actually, the more I think about it, the more it makes sense.

Yep, overflows, one (on the side) for if you drop the bike so the carb empties and the engine cuts out, the other for if the carb overfills for some reason to stop it filling up the engine with fuel.

Yep Stinkwheel is right. I have a C90 myself, and can tell you 100% that the information is correct. I managed to sieze my C90, although it still ran afterwards, and still runs today and I haven't looked into the siezure I had. I was on a long run and it overheated and siezed, I managed to free it off and it's fine even now. I will get around to rebuilding it soon I think, might even put a 110cc or 120cc engine in it from one of the X Sport bikes with a 4 speed manual box just for laughs and giggles Laughing
