This is going to be a bit of a rant so beware!!
right, i have had my bike for a few weeks and a few things have gone wrong, mostly my fault anyway last weekend i fixed the exhaust with the help of Davo (nice one Thumbs Up ) anyway that got sorted and so i rode to work on monday morning only for me to crash her! only a little damage, but pretty unridable, got the new bits and started to fit them but as i have no garage i am stuck to the ligt and good weather. well tonight i finished the job and went for a little ride, feeling good filled the lady with fuel and rode some more, i get to a set of lights on a hill and on the hill start, i rev it quite hard and then try to find the bitting point and nothing! shite! so get the bike to the side of the road and try again! still nothing. bolloxs!!! so i ended up walking the bike home a couple of miles with a full tank!!! (no dreakdown cover!) get home and adjust the clutch cable and hurrah i get biting, with this fixed i get riding again and ead up to devils dyke, i get nearlly there and think this is stupid as the road was pretty icey so i turned back riding home at about 10 mph! get home safely and then try to put the bike on the centre side with that the bike goes straight over breaking off the righthand mirror!!
WTF is going on! will i ever ride my bike and not break it?
is this me being a Tw%t or newbie normality?

Rant over
Cheers

I have been riding for eleven years. I bought a new bike in late 2002 so far:

Snapped chain.
Busted chain guard.
Front mudguard fell off.
Burred carb drain screw.
Broken speedo cable.
Spat out rear brake pads.
Dropped off stand twice.
Blown over twice.
Mirror fell off on motorway.
Broke other mirror when it blew over.
Immobaliser chip fell out of key.
Stolen and hotwired.
Snapped lever off fuel tap.
Blown engine (snapped conrod).
Broken wire on immobaliser.
Broken wire on CDI.
Heavy corrosion on alloy rims.
Gear lever fell off.
Two flasher relays dead.

I consider this to be one of the most reliable bikes I have ever owned Rolling Eyes

Ponder... A bike a year old, with about 8 months riding.

Blown spotlight bulbs, both of them.
Blown speedo bulb.
Knackered tacho.
Knackered speedo.
Pitted forks.
Lost toolkit. (Thieving barstewards...)
Rapid rust chrome.
Rear electrics fallen to pieces.
Lost bolt from the sprocket cover.
Lost bolts from pillion floorboards.

And that's excluding the damage I've caused by binning it and accidentally dropping it. (Bent levers, bent mirrors, dented tank etc etc..)

So far this year I've had a new rear tyre, chain/sprocket kit and rear brakes. That was fitted recently and set me back £200.
Sadly the fork seals blew a few days ago and the exhaust is on stage one of failure, a hole in the balance pipe which is rusted
very badly.

Apart from that, all is just peachy.

Almost forgot, I blew a headlight bulb two weeks ago, first one this winter.

It's a heavy bike you've got there matey, I'm guessing you're suffering from big-heavy-bike-itis.

The clutch thing is a bit odd, surely you noticed something was up before this happened? Maybe it's new plates time, check ebay there were some on there last week.

and putting the thing on the centre stand is a mission. The only thing I've ever found that's more difficult is the 900 diversion!

That was my mentality, the MZ was a great learning tool. I never blew it up despite my best efforts.

Bikes will take a suprising amount.

apart from my divvy, it seems the more careful i am with it the more i kill it! Laughing
just a question but if i am going to replace the plates anyway would it be a good time to learn to do burn outs? Very Happy as after the tyres isn't the clutch the next thing that is likely to get buggered up?
Cheers

May aswell, it doesn't do a whole lot to the clutch, considering you have plenty of power to break traction.

I take it it's nearly new rear tyre time?
