Well, now that me and leeanne split and my daughter has gone too. I have no need for a car. This means if I make the police this year then I will be setting my sights on a TRIUMPH DAYTONA 650. Iv had a sit and quick rev with one but was wondering if anyone here owns or has ridden one? Any thoughts?

Thanks

Thumbs Up

There's a couple of guys on here have ridden all the sports 600's, worth doing a search.

I'm just running my new D650 in now Very Happy First service next week.

I much preferred it to everything bar the GSXR and the british factor swung it for me.

There's a good D650 forum here

I love mine!!

I've sat on the 600 model that a friend of mine has, thats about it but they do look sharp, nice styling and different from your normal jap bike stuff......

Going for the police eh?? Was considering that myself. Thumbs Up

Bugsy I've test ridden the Daytona (600) https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=29422, GSXR https://bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=297974&highlight=#297974 and also the R6 relatively recently (sorry can't find the R6 link, maybe I didn't bother with a write up 'cos it wasn't my cup of tea).

Personally I believe that there is so very little between any of the Sprts 600's (in terms of performance) that it'll take an extremely experienced rider to really distinguish one from the other. I've found the Daytona the comfiest so far however as this type of thing is down to individual preference. I would advise having a trawl around the dealerships and attempting to obtain test rides on those you fancy.

Good Luck Thumbs Up

Personally I would wait for next years (secret) Daytona 680 triple.

I believe that the Daytona 650 is merely a stopgap until that bike is released.

Here's the known stuff about it:

New lovely styling
USD forks
Radial brakes
Underseat exhaust
meets supersport regs for a triple

Here's the rumours

marginally less than 180kg wet weight (as quoted by a scrutineer at cartagena in spain - the circuit where Triumph test its bikes in the winter)
over 110bhp at the crank

Drooling

I want one. When they come out I'm going to chop in the Daytona and the TT and buy one!

Also its worth noting that according to MCN, all of the current sports 600's have a wet weight greater than the magic 180kg figure.

I WANT! Smile

I suppose it depends on what you want out of the bike, I sat on all the new 600's at the NEC show and fell in love with the Daytona, it just felt perfect.

And I have to say it's the only bike in the world that can pull off yellow imo. Smile
