Hi,

I have an old GS500... the side panels are black, but the tank is a pretty nasty metallic purple, so I'm thinking about spraying it black as well.... the bike looks pretty shit anyway, so I can't make it much worse Smile I thought matt black on the tank and panels would be a big improvement though. Can anyone give me any advice? I have no idea whatsoever where to start, would this cost alot or take alot of time?

or plan B- does anyone know where to get a cheap black tank cover for a GS500?

thanks Thumbs Up

Hi it depends on what resources you have if you have acces to an spraygun live should be pretty easy. But if youre gonna use aerosal cans its a bit more work. Realy you want to take the tank off the bike rub it down and smooth off any chips in the paint and if the under side of the tank is bad clean that up as well make sure when spraying to put plenty layers on dont rush it take a bit of time and warm the tank up next to a heater or something this will help with the paint sticking. when you have enough coats as you think is ideal tcut it and do what ever finish is ideal with youreself good luck Thumbs Up
