long story short, getting a er6f soon, and trying to prepare my security in advance.

I'm looking at the 16 or 19mm almax chain.

just wondered if any one has an er6f can you pass the chain anywhere through the frame?

probably a really daft question, but never owned a bike yet and already really paranoid about security. don't fancy chaining it via wheels.

thanks

I usually use a chain through the rear wheel, along with two disc locks (front & rear.

I don't think there's anywhere you'd get it through the actual frame though.

You may be able to get an anti pinch pin through it somewhere but, my bike's outside under cover and I'm in bed with man flu at the moment and I'm in no fit state to go and check.

Another thing worth considering is a ground anchor too, if you have somewhere to put one.

Where do you live?
If London then through the frame is probably the best way to go.
The anti-pinch pins Dave refers to are sold by these guys: https://securityforbikes.com/anti-pinch-pin.php

I can vouch for their chains too, on my cheaper chains when attacked they always showed huge gouges.
On my Pragmasis chains I only noticed damage to the sleeve and slight scratching on the links, had to look hard too.

If not London, I've lived in some seriously shitty areas, and had more attacks on my bikes outside than I can count (so at least more than 9) and they've always attacked the chain.
Nobody has ever attempted to take the wheels off and carry her away.
Even with a light CB500 or CG125.
I doubt anyone is going to carry 211kg of Kwak (less wheel weight) when there are nicer bikes with less security.

I chain the Blackbird to a ground anchor through the back wheel. Like Tim said, I doubt anyone wants to try and carry that bastard sans wheel into the back of a van.

cheers for the replies.

I'm in Manchester so not that great for security.

it will be stored under cover, and will have a ground anchor installed.

just a bit paranoid about them just removing rear or front wheel if chain isn't secured through frame.

that pinch pin looks a good bit of kit.

ideally would want the ground anchored chain secured through frame.

I get a 19mm through the swingarm on my fireblade. Depends which ER6 revision, my 2006 would easily take a 19mm through the swingarm.

Had a look at mine this morning (2016 model) and you'd probably get a 16 through the swing arm, I'm quite sure. A 19 would also quite possibly go through but, you'd have to try it first.
