First post in who know's how long and its straight to the workshop
I believe my starter motor is all but fudged, it had a funny day last week where it wouldn't start, still had over 12 Volts on the battery, starter solenoid makes a single solid click when pressing the starter button.
I gave the starter cover a few whacks with a rubber screwdriver handle and she fired up, alas it's now this week and happened again; no amount of man tapping is helping.
I have taken the cover off for a peek and the gears are in perfect condition, fiddling the starter motor cog in and out (towards/from the center of the bike) made it spin up and then it didn't the following day.
I have seen kits available on eBay US sold as starter motor rebuild kits with new brushes, o-rings and washers. Has anyone had any experience of these? Would it be worth ordering, waiting then fitting one of the kits over buying a used/salvaged part?
I either have to bite the bullet and order the kit and wait it out or buy a used one, which leads onto my next question.
Apart from ebay can any one recommend anywhere reputable I could source another either used or pattern part from?
Any useful help, tips or first hand experience of this would be much appreciated.
