Today I requested a quotation for my " mule" runabout, my R1200rt is already insured by them.
They suggested to continue my original cover but place another bike on the policy, after giving details of the "mule" a price was agreed and cover issued.
After all the seemingly endless problems experienced with forum members when dealing with HD, I was most pleasently surprised at their attitude and efficiency.
However, getting in contact with them is a nightmare.....😱
Thought you would like to know..👍[/b]

Isn't Hastings Direct the company that like to sell your damaged vehicle regardless of whether you have initiated a claim or not?

Think I will continue to avoid them Thumbs Up

They quoted me a million quid renewal for a 600 Diversion.

I didn't take it...

Hastings Direct is indeed the company that sells your damaged vehicle while you are in a coma, while sending you letters threatening legal action because you haven't responded to them, despite being aware of your condition.

If you think its bad trying to contact them now, wait until you have an actual problem and try getting in contact Laughing, or if you're lucky, finally make some sort of coherent contact, only to find everything that was said is completely ignored, then apparently didn't happen.

I think they are the only insurance company i've come across so far that I would vehemently avoid in the future. My issue was in relation to car insurance rather than bike insurance admittedly, but I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them in either case.

Was eventually resolved after much fucking around and wasted time via the Financial Ombudsman.

Some say they're the company who who takes it upon themselves to try to start a claim, on a TPO policy when your bike gets nicked and no other person was involved.
Smart people.

They have just sent me a renewal for £143.

If I renew through the meerkat site it will cost me £65.

Still with hastings.

I like the advert with the seagull and the statue. Almost makes me want to insure with them.

I had the same, couldn't be arsed to negotiate with them so just cancelled and signed up for another year through the website, they were the cheapest.
BTW did you think if you put a 'mushroom' as your avatar, that the obsessive BCFers would forget about seeing your 'mushroom'? Thinking

Because they auto-renew.

Took out a new policy last week for my Range Rover, all done online last Monday to start Saturday. Money (in full) taken from my account Tuesday but still showing as not insured on Ask Mid. They say they have had an IT nightmare this last week and lots of new policies have had the funds taken but no insurance set up. They have promised me faithfully that my car is/was insured even though it was showing on their system as a quote only! Shocked
I have just now finally received an insurance certificate almost a week late and still not showing on Mid!

I wonder how many people have just taken for granted that the fact that an email was sent saying the policy is set up and the fact they took the money to mean all was ok?
Although they have got there in the end and I feel the customer services have tried to do all they could to put my mind at ease it is a worry.
It is also a good job that this is my spare car as there is no way I would risk driving it and getting done for no insurance.

Andy

Until you were in possession of that certificate of insurance, or it was available online, your car was not insured for the purposes of the RTA.

No ifs, ands or buts, that's the law.

In with a complaint, gibs money back for that week when it wasn't covered, no excuses.

I had that situation with Admiral; didn't receive and couldn't access my docs for a fortnight due to an 'IT issue'. It was on MID though, don't think it dropped off between myself and the previous owner.
