Found a delivery mileage bike going for sale however doesnt have the rear seat, service manual or spare key. Further digging shows it was bought at auction leading me to believe its been a repo. Other than the original keeper managing to track it down and use the outstanding key to take it if its not chained up anything else I should be wary of or any advice on it?

Thanks

If it has an immobiliser, having one key can get very expensive if you lose it.

Check if it is possible to reprogram an additional key with only 1 key (some vehicles need multiples in order to program extras). If not DIY then how about a dealer? Check how expensive it would be to rectify should you lose the only key (i.e. new lockset is a given, but do you also need a new ECU?).

I can't even wrap me head around what's what here. It's probably not that difficult but I'm tired and it's been a long day, sounds like a whole load of nope to me.

Anyway to counter the above if the keys normal then I can vouch that Timpsons can get one made since their catalogue went by manufacture and was quite vast.

If it's Honda HISS and you have a key you can get the ECU to code you a new key.

Or pay Honda £47 for it.

Delivery mileage, bought at auction and missing stuff?

More likely stolen/recovered off some dealer's forecourt, not repo, unless you know for sure it's had more than one owner and it's been on the strap.

People don't often buy brand new bikes to put them away, unless it's a nailed on modern classic.

Anyway, as others have said, look into the probability of getting a spare key, or, if you're really worried about a previous owner nicking it back, getting the locks/keys changed altogether.

What bike was it? We might make you feel better by telling you it would have needed a new ECU and ignition for mad dollah.

Or not

.. they have a gadget that reads the signal: from the transponder: and is plugged into a writer which encodes the new key ... no payment to honda..

You can buy them yourself too:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hiss-Key-Registration-Programming-Tool-Honda-H-I-S-S-System-Motorcycles-/201912904034?hash=item2f02f26962:g:7I0AAOSwhOVXeS2J

But having to provide the blank key, cut it AND provide the transponder chip and the kit to copy the key as above it comes out at about £10 cheaper so not really worth it.
