I use a helicoil thread repair kit to repair one of the points my seat is attached to the frame. Using a simple method of first drilling out the previous thread, tapping the hole with the tapping tool, then screwing in the threaded insert using the insert tool and finally break off the tangs.
A quick job with the right tools, and even my puppy makes an appearance!

You will probably find it easier next time if you lube her up before you tap that shit, you could do some damage going in dry.
Seems like you may need a smaller length insert too (sly video edit to cut the struggle removing the tang?)
I had that problem with a similar kit I bought and when the coil sits out the back of the nut.
The thread stretches out when you break the tang, damaging the bolt when you remove and replace it.
Nice puppy though. ____________________ The above post is most likely nonsensical.
