All in the title really, im thinking they must be able to be re-used because i cant find them for sale anywhere, but my boyfriend is putting in new valves, piston, cylinder head, this weekend and he has said that some head bolts cannot be reused ie stretch bolts.
I feel like this is a really obvious question and im probably going to be mocked haha but i want to check that we can just put the head bolt(s?) back in and it won't blow up on me.
thanks, and its a '89 brazil model fyi |

I would be utterly amazed if stretch bolts were used on a small petrol engine head. The only place I have come across them has been in large diesel engine big end and main bearing bolts where youalways replace rather than reuse due to the forces involved.
Just examine them for damage, lubricate or dry assembly, how the manual dictates, and torque them down correctly ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
