When the bike is on centre stand, if i pop it into first gear, and have the clutch fully in, should the back wheel be spinning?

Too Add more detail, it spins at about 7-8mph, and needs a fair bit of force to stop it? when on the floor, it will in fact move the bike, very slowly forward.

Now that the brake is not rubbing, is that why only now I may have noticed this, as before, the brake rubbing would have hidden this

Yes but only very slightly. Ste's (not nobcat Ste) ER5 had the back wheel spin a bit.

CBR 1 and 3 the back wheel rotated very slightly (could stop with finger).

See how much the revs drop and adjust your clutch cable first. As the rotation should only be slight.

Ok ta.

When standing next to the bike, with clutch pulled in, the bike still wants to pull away, even though its only ever so slight. When on stand, it takes a fair amount to stop it spinning?

Is this normal still?

Sounds like your clutch cable could do with a slight adjustment so that when the clutch is pulled in, it pulls the actual clutch open a bit more.

The clutch will drag more when the oil needs changing.

It is just a case if twisting the disk near the clutch?

There will be another adjuster at the point where the cable goes through the pivot on the gearbox. That one is best to use first, fine adjustment with the one on the lever.

Ok, tad nervous about this after the royal screw up I made of the brakes, so i'm probably going to get someone with sense to look at it. Rolling Eyes

Clutch adjustment is one (cable, and the end into the bike which could be direct, arm or worm drive).

Sticking clutch plates is another (usually after you have forced the wheel to stop, the plates free up).

Overfilled engine oil is another, increases clutch drag.

Ok thank you mate Smile . Best way to diagnose?

Try adjust, if no good, force to stop, if no good, change oil?

Or

Garage?

Can you stop it with one hand?

When did you last change the oil?

1. Change the oil.

2. When you have it on the centre stand with the clutch pulled in, with the wheel spinning, apply the brake until the wheel stops. When you release the brake does it immediately try and turn with power or does it just slowly start to spin again?

It is normal friction between the odds, ends, bits, and Bobs wot an engine and drive train has.

Don't put it in gear with engine running and the clutch lever pulled in on center stand and the issue will not exist.

( It is possible sometimes get the same drag thing without a gear being engaged Shocked )
