Looking to buy a K4.

I've seen one I fancy in my price range, 26,000 miles.

Is there anything to be aware of on these when I go to look at it?

Will I love it?

You'll love it.

You'll love the K5 more.

Check for the usual crash damage. Nothing tends to go wrong. Can't see any recalls either.

Checked insurance? Mine was somewhat more expensive than around 4 years ago.

Sweet. Already checked insurance.

Both bikes are pretty cheap on a multi bike policy so all good there!

Hopefully going to take a look / test ride this week. Will the power be much different to a ZX9 with 133 at back wheel?

Not that I'm worried

Just fancied a new toy for summer

Yep definitely.

Haven't had mine long but oodles of power and a bike that weighs so little makes for a fun time. Going from a ZX6R (very similar to a ZX9 in size), the bike feels small to me - you might sit on it and wonder if you're on a 125.

The only problem I have with mine is I have little self control on it, it makes you do naughty things.

Check if the owner has removed the exhaust control valve, and if he or she has make sure there aren't any FI codes - there's a wiring mod that needs to be done after it's been whipped out.

Also ask whether the TRE mod has been done.

It'll feel like its got more for sure.

Unsure why you'd need the TRE, I've never felt the need, its plenty fast and if you think that is slow acceleration then...wut. Laughing

i didn't notice any difference when i had a TRE on my k4 GSXR 1000 so got rid of the TRE

compared to the k5/k6 1000 the k3/k4 felt like a barge!
still a great bike tho but the mirrors are terrible for adjustment when you need to close them in for filtering.

if your budget can stretch to it id recommend you get a k5/k6 instead!!!!
the k5/k6 feels like a 400cc with immense torque everywhere

the k1-k4 have great torque everywhere but feel like big bikes.

1000c bikes these days feel so much smaller.......bear in mind tho i am only 5"4 lol

Currently riding an SRAD, so it will probably feel like an improvement to me. I don't mind a bit of weight. I'm 6ft1 anyway so should be reet!

Off to go have a look tonight. Exciting...

Got her! What an animal! Front end happy or what?

Will take some getting used to the handling, I've been riding a Versys for ages!

Only cost me one mobile phone, somehow the wind turbulence managed to unzip my jacket and empty my phone out of the pocket. RIP Sad
