Striple wiring mess

Tried to hotwire the bike this morning, the lights came on but the bike wouldn't start. Dug around in the wiring and found this...

I assume that's where the alarm plug would have been (the other strand leads to the battery). Any ideas? I'm guessing try to solder on a new plug (if it's the right cable)?

Why were you trying to hot wire it?

Get a wiring diagram NOW would be my advice.

While an old 70's/80's bike I would happily run a few wires to get power to the ignition etc. and be sure of what I was doing, with modern machinery with all the electronics I wouldn't even try without said wiring diagram. It's too easy to fry something else inadvertently.

I had advice from PaddyTheft™, although the front/left indicator did stay on (seem to remember that being a common consequence), which goes off when I hit the kill switch.

Edit: also by hotwiring I mean joined all the ignition wires together and connected the battery (dunno if that's the right term... I'm new to baklaf).

The Haynes manual has one: https://www.mediafire.com/?ee014detjbdgl5u (uploaded due to size and image hosting was killing the res'). So I should link yellow/brown/white, then blue/red, then the other two?

Any thoughts on the alarm connector? I doubt I'm going to be able to successfully wire a new connector on, if I stripped back the wires would twisting them all together (like the ignition ) be a bad idea? I believe a couple of those pins that need to be connected, guessing I could possibly find them through trial and error but there are 12 of them

I'd probably get an auto electrician to have a look. I wouldn't want to risk doing an Arcane and making things worse.

Leave it out on the street and wait for someone to nick it. Then, when they've got it running, hit them round the back of the head with a lump of wood and quickly ride off.

They wont be wearing helmets in case the police chase them.

I've managed to work out bits of bike wiring in the past (especially missing connector block pinout orders) by careful inspection of pictures of wiring looms for sale on ebay.

You can buy the entire loom for £60 on eBay, not a huge loss if it doesn't work out. And, I hear you can sell the loom for £60 on eBay if you decide not to go ahead with the repair.

Re-wried the ignition as per above, only difference was I got a few more dash lights (rev counter/temp/engine light briefly illuminated). Stripped back the alarm connector cable and found some of the wires have silver markings:

Any ideas what these could indicate?

Can 100% promise that joining all wires at the ignition end will let the bike start up and run as expected. easiest theft job fam.

I'm fairly certain it's this alarm cable causing the issue, although I'm not getting a neutral light so could be clutch switch (like you said). Wiring on the alarm cable seems to be 8 with silver markings, and 4 without. I'm guessing it's those other 4 wires that need to be joined (as per the blanking plug above).

One step forward and two steps back. Joined those 4 alarm wires in different combinations, but I was only getting the oil light coming on, then with the final combo all the dash lights came on and the bike primed... still nothing when hitting the starter.

I then decided to re-wire the ignition Paddy stylee, connected the battery and heard a faint pop, so I'm guessing I've blown a fuse?

Not sure if it would help but I got an alarm bypass plug from the dealer, they gave it to me for free, but they're usually less than a fiver

Lifted the tank, checked all the fuses, only the indicator fuse was blown (replaced it anyway). Bikes still dead, any ideas?
