...for Christ's sake, lock up your bikes if you leave them. Just seen the 4th post today about a bike being stolen whilst someone waits for their ferry. The local pikeys are clearly having a field day. Just a psa seen as I had 3 stolen from Liverpool in the last 7 years.

Sailing from there on monday, i assume its people that have wandered away for a coffee for an hour that had their bikes nicked?
Also whats the island like for this kind of stuff? im likely only going to take a disc lock with me.

Fuckit might just take the chain too anyway, that'll take them what, an extra 2 minutes to cut through Sad

I've read of some reports of bike thefts from the Isle this year.
You'd have to be really unlucky to get your bike nicked there as it's crammed full of very tasty machines.

I've seen a couple stolen overnight from travelodges etc, assuming people have come the night before for ferries in the morning. And a couple that were just parked up in the city near the ferry port. A really nice s1000rr and s1000r.

Bring a chain for Christ's sake. You just have to make it harder to steal than the next poor chumps.

You'll be fine on the IoM.

When I lived there, I left my bike parked on the street overnight with the keys in the ignition by accident far too many times. Never bothered using any security at all either. The bike never got touched (except when some bint accidentally reversed into it.) Evil or Very Mad

As for Liverpool. The local scum will be like lions waiting for the herds of Wildebeest to pass through. Do not take your eyes off your bike for a minute, seriously.

Good analogy.

If you don't want to carry a heavy chain with you on the island, leave it locked to a railing somewhere inconspicuous in Liverpool when you leave the city and retrieve it on the way back through on your way home.

But I can just see that if you did that, someone would cut the chain so they could steal the railing for scrap.
