Well its got warmer, and my winter so called all round year gear has turned into Boil in The Bag gear.... its far too hot to wear.

So ive been looking on ebay for cheap motobike jeans like
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAC3-Mens-Motorbike-Motorcycle-Protective-Armoured-Lining-Denim-Jeans-Trousers-/222251026472

Are they any good? Does the "protective lining" protect against road rash and are the pads decent enough?

Im poor so this kind of price is all im willing to pay at the moment. But is it good enough?

Any ideas?

Preferably should be fully kevlar lined cordura jean, but it depends what level of protection you want vs comfort/price.

Can't comment on those specifically but they don't seem to be either of the above.

Kevlar is a trade name, Aramid is the general term for the material. Ideally you want the jeans to be fully lined with this, but they're considerably more expensive. I'm fine with Denim or Cordura.

I was being facetious. If you want to avoid gravel rash wear leathers.

I've crashed in eBay (forceriders) kevlar jeans (more than once). They work I'm not dead. Be under no illusion though it's not going to be as protective as leather. Also the dye on the cheap jeans tends to be crap so they fade fast (if that's something you give a toss about).

The Hornee ones gr666 suggests are good as well. No armour inserts in them though but the quality of the jeans themselves are noticeably better. I'm not sold on Draggin (own 2 pairs), the lining just seems to be alot thicker than needed, also the fit on them is odd (and varied) I have one pair that are american style baggy and another that are so tight on the crotch you can almost feel your own balls in your throat.

100% kevlar coverage is a gimmick to charge you more. Someone please tell me about the time they crashed and slid down the road on their cock/ballbag/shin/calf (the areas that commonly don't have kevlar). Coverage of arse/hips/thighs/knees is enough, the kevlar protects slides not impacts and these are the areas people slide on.

TLDR - buy the Hornee jeans gr666 suggests for about £40.

Have you considered Aldi's biker jeans? They do two grades; the dearer one being CE approved: https://www.aldi.co.uk/men%27s-certified-biker-black-jeans/p/074003149393201

You'll find plenty of previous discussion on this forum if you have a search.

Worth mentioning that Hornee sell knee protectors which you put on before the jeans separately and that the
jeans themselves come up a little on the larger side. I'm definitely not a 32 but my Hornees are. I originally ordered
34's but they were so loose that they fell down so I had to exchange them for a size smaller. They actually look pretty decent too,
I've worn mine out for an evening out before now.

My mates calf disagrees with you. Half-lined. 2+ years of Physio and it's as good as it'll get. Wore through the Denim, but the Aramid was pretty much untouched.

Unusual? Certainly, but it's certainly not unknown either.

If £30-40 is really as poor as you are then I'd either (a) not bother (b) pop into J&S and see if you can find anything in your size on the sale rack that, at my local, Kevlar lined jeans reside on. I'd trust an in-store purchase and inspection more than an unseen random photograph, even more so when you consider the purpose of the product. I'm not saying one is better than the other but I'd want a poke around at what I'm trying on before investing. Plus who doesn't go into the J&S changing rooms and perv at themselves in the mirror, just me?

I'm not really a fan of Kevlar jeans anyway given the unpredictability of the weather from morning to night it makes using them almost impossible. I used them probably a hand full of times last year and probably won't bother this time round. Plus I'd only ever use them for short trips rather than here there and possibly wherever I end up.

Just sounds like you need better vented kit. I'm surprised though that bottoms are the issue, I've never really figured them a problem while riding, perhaps while walking around a city centre or alike. Probably time to bag yourself a better suited low cost textile suit, RST Blade perhaps or alike.

Far and away the best quality jeans available at the moment. Much better than Draggin (and I have both to compare to) and they're made in the UK. Customer service is second to none and they can be shortened to order. The denim is top quality thick denim and the Aramid lining goes all the way down the leg to the shin. The only (slight) niggle is that the earlier ones don't have pockets for armour. This is a minor niggle as you can velcro armour to the hip and thighs. They're expensive but worth it.

Hood aren't cheap, but (with the caveat that I've not slid down the road in them) they are very good quality. I've had cheaper (~£90 red route from J&S) jeans fall apart on me in six months with the fabric worn thin on the arse so it split, and the waist button ripping through two layers (no, I'm not a fat guy, and they did fit). Neither of these have me any confidence that they'd do their job if needed.

Over a year on, I've not worn anything other than my hood jeans on the bike (with appropriate waterproofs on top when needed). They are so comfy that I wore them all winter under my goretex trousers. With commuting (~90 miles), touring, some leisure rides, they've got 25,000+ miles on them and the only sign of wear is a bit of fading.
When my son need some jeans, I just bought him the same even though he was only going to be commuting on the back of my bike for a few weeks and doesn't normally ride. I'd replace mine without thinking about it when they eventually wear out.
