Was rather proud on Sunday, as the Mrs had a go on a bike for the first time ever, in a Get On trial thing.

We went to the Bike Show South at Goodwood, and had booked Hannah to have a go. Was really cool, as it was on the track that she was able to ride.

Bear in mind she had never before even sat in the riders seat on a bike, she took to it really fast. Credit where credit is due, the instructor was really good. In the half an hour time slot, independently she was putting the bike into first, finding the biting point and holding the revs steady without looking down. Getting up to second, going back down into first, braking and not stalling. What I thought was good about it was there was no rush or pressure and it really has sparked her enjoyment and is now super keen to do her CBT, where as before, she was really not sure she would like it / get it.

Well, at least one of us was able to ride at the weekend ffs. Laughing Rolling Eyes

I really can't believe I'm going to say this, almost in defense of him...
However for a second I genuinely thought that was one of the more respectable members postingin jest, as opposed to that mong for brains.
By BCF standards, that's quite tame when someone posts a picture of their woman.

A year or so back he would have been calling her a N****r.
He comes on leaps and bounds, it only takes him years.

Indeed, and it was a risk, but from him, its just weird, dull and boring, rather than banter.

Oh nobody could disagree with that.
I think I was more surprised how tame it was for him, as to be mistaken for a normal human being.

I had the same line of thought. I do however very much doubt her mum will be impressed after hearing about my crash.

Mrs Bamt still hasn't admitted to her mum that she not only rides on the back of my bike, but went out and got a license and has her own.

It was over 30 years ago that Mrs Bamt's mum told her that she'd be thrown out of the house if she smoked or went on the back of a bike Very Happy

The “Get On” scheme is a great idea and I know a lot of people who’ve been bitten by the bike bug after one of them sessions. At least it saves you trying out a mate’s bike and going head first into a set of railings, like the first time I ever sat on a bike. Embarassed

Get On is a splendid idea, and it's great to see it being done in such a positive fashion. Can you imagine Tef running a half hour session? Laughing

My Missus learnt to ride and passed her tests because she didn't like riding pillion, even on my Goldwings.

She really enjoyed it, did her advanced riding and then after a couple of years more or less gave up saying she couldn't be bothered getting all kitted up, helmet hair etc. so except for once in a blue moon, her bike sat in the garage just gathering dust for years. Amongst my friends, a few wives have learnt to ride but only 1 does so regularly now.

When I sold her bike a couple of months ago the only ride out in a year it had done was me riding to the MOT station.

Maybe it's an 'If you can do it, I can too' thing with (most) women, I don't know.

I'm not sure if it's a trust thing, but I have no idea why people enjoy riding pillion at all, it's terrifying.
Even riding pillion to an Instructor I disliked the experience.

Me too. I hate riding pillion. The last bike I bought, the seller gave me a test ride with me as pillion round some London streets. He rode like he had a proper death wish, weaving in and out of cars at absolutley stupid speeds and speeding down 20mph one-way streets at about 60mph. When I got off the bike I thought to myself "never will I ride pillion again".

I reckon half an hour would be just enough time to introduce himself.

Although after 15 minutes, they would have given up biking.
