Right, first thing's first; yes I know they're just glorified soap and I'm a wanker for even considering anything as poncy and unmanly compared to good ole' elbow grease. I've never used snake oil cleaning products and I'm not under any impression that a quick spooge of the pink stuff will elicit a visit from the cleaning fairy.

Anyway, out of boredom and curiosity I saw Halfrauds have this jizz on offer but I notice there's a Muc Off Bike (bicycle) Cleaner...and a seperate, more expensive by a quid, 'Motorcycle Cleaner'.

Does anyone definitively know if it's just the same pink unicorn spunk in both bottles or does one claim to have some magical properties that the other doesn't?

It's more delicate so that cyclists can wash the sand out of their vaginas with it.

I've never used Muc Off but I have used WD40 Total Wash. My god, it takes everything off, including any sort of oil so if you ACF50 your bike you will deffo need a re application. It's so strong if you don't apply it evenly you will see exactly where it has and hasn't been. I usually jet wash rinse my bike, spray it all over, have a brew and rinse off. Not the cheapest but B&M has it in quite regular.

ive been using APC diluted to whatever strength I feel necessary and its been good so far. much cheaper than "proper" brands too.

APC, All purpose cleaner - its fluorescent yellow. should be £5-10 for 5L which then gets diluted up to 10:1

I just use good old fashioned water, along with a wipe of citrus de greaser for the oily bits.

Never felt the need for poncey shampoos.

I do however, use a silicone post wash, for super shineyness and easy washingness.

I have this weird thing where I read stuff like this and then get an email verifying my eBay purchase with no conscious recollection of what happened in between. Confused

You tit. Dish detergent is full of salt, you're washing off salt and applying a layer of....salt. It might look clean but it's just slowly killing it.

Ah fuck it there's no telling you, got it all figured out don't you kiddo? Laughing Rolling Eyes

It doesn't just contain salt, it contains lots of salt which takes ages to rinse out of all the nooks and crannies...
Some of the supermarket cheap 'car shampoo' also contain salt but much less. So still not a wise idea but better than washing up liquid.

Plus if it's being used on an older bike with unsealed cellulose paint, it'll wash the oils out of it which leads to colour bleaching.

For the record; bought some and tried in a moment of 'more money than sense'.

Yeah, it's not bad I suppose. It does take some of the effort out of scrubbing down, doesn't seem to harm anything. I'd only buy it if it was on super special offer like.

Is it better than good ole cheap car shampoo in a bucket? Nah, but for a quick hose down clean it ain't too bad.

Now, this APC stuff then eh.....

They are exactly the same as they were when I bought the bike which isn't 'pitted to fuck' FYI. There's a couple bits of pitting (16 year old bike ridden daily) the forks don't travel to where the couple bits of pitting is so it makes no difference.

Ahhh ok, so you fucked them up with your fairy liquid cleaning regime and by not reapplying ACF occasionally and then scraped the rust away leaving them all crappy and pitted.

Where do you get it from?

My brothers used to have a load from his work and once bought back a litre bottle which worked really well. I've bought some caustic degreaser but it's pretty shit.

Only thing you'll ever own is a sense of failure, though it appears that hasn't yet dawned on you despite being somewhat obvious to the rest of the planets population.

So how many fairy liquid washes did it actually take to rust them up like that?
