Here's a list of the security I use on my bike... may be overkill for some, but for me it's a must.

NCS Alarm and Immobiliser

At work, parked in a very secure underground carpark, in addition to above being active, I use...
Abus Granit Sledg - front wheel
Abus Granit Quick - back wheel

At home, parked on the street, in addition to all of above, I use...
22mm Pragmasis Protector Chain and Squire Lock - chained to post
Oxford Screamer Disck Lock

Edit: forgot to add the bike cover, which imo is a decent theft-preventative measure in itself.

You'd surely need a fuck off big top box to safety carry all that gear around with you though?

Even so your doing more than many would, and your chains are some of the toughest. Thing is you'd probably be safer in a line of parked bikes than the ones next to you, and if your bike is the hardest to steal it's odds on that the thieves will go for the easiest pickings.

Saying that though if the other bikes were tatty GS500's or similar, and yours was a Ducati 1299, they'd maybe try harder as you only need one pinnacle bike to equal maybe 6-10 old shitters?

In broad daylight in busy areas your probably a bit safer than many, but if bike was in a secluded works carpark and the thieves got access, they'd only need seconds with a big angle grinder or petrol disc cutter to free your bike and wheel it into a van.

Tbh it's not as much of a hassle as it sounds. Yes, I'd rather not have to go through the motions of locking/unlocking so many locks every time I want to ride the bike but I'm kind of used to it now.

No need for a top box as I only carry the two Abus locks when out, and they both attach to the pillion peg so all good.

Tested the tracker (Biketrac). Wheeled the bike around to see how sensitive it was to movement and average trigger point is about 2-3 feet of movement. I think it's dependent on strength of the signal where you, but in London signals are generally good in most places.

After having two bikes stolen,then having to go through this routine,and all the while worrying 24/7 about your bike,i don't think i would have the desire to keep riding.

My bikes parked on my drive with an Abus chain on the front and Pragmasis on the rear,and also a cover on.Out and about i use a disc lock.

Work is a closed site with security guard entrance and more cameras than the nuthouse up the road,Broadmoor.

When I used a bike cover, I found that idiots would pull the covers off just to see what bike it was.
I found that keeping it covered and with the locks clearly visible on the outside of the cover was the best option..

Dont your bikes get nicked on a monthly basis ?

i live in SW16 and work in SW10.
no ones gives my CBF600 a second glance.
they are too busy nicking all them lovely MT's.

My work underground car park is super secure. Parking a bike in central London and not even having to worry about forgetting your keys is fantastic. I also leave the helmet next to the bike and the jacket over the seat.
