All of them are the same. People slate MCE, i'm with MCE and its fine, people slate Hastings, I've had no issues.

Buy it, use it, cheap is cheap.

I'm insured with Principal (Ireland). The underwriter is Zenith.

They beat my renewal quote from Carole Nash by a good
margin. No issues so far. No claims.

The UK operation may be different. As always, read the small print.

I actually just insured my Hornet with these guys. Comparison websites came in around 280-600 odd, which was a lot higher than what I paid for when I first passed my test and insured it. Although I have 3 years NCB on the Blackbird, they said they would take that into consideration and I haggled my original quote from from £207 to £160 over the phone.

Insurance is insurance. It's all a con.

Jesus. A new start up MGA, who are Authorised Representatives (ie not FCA approved in their own right and relying on someone else's CF1 status) of Prestige Underwriting. They use Gefion AS capacity, who are Danish domiciled and regulated. No S&P rating, no outlook on financial stability I can see.

Just how low does the motor market need to go before it runs out of cheap shit capacity that folds every 5 minutes.

When I got my Brutale and traded in my VFR in the middle of the policy, I switched to Principal because the extra cost for switching the VFR policy prorated for the remainder of the policy exceeded a full year with Principal. (That is, the cost with Principal was higher, but it was a full year, so was cheaper on a per-month basis.)

I didn't get my documents particularly quickly via email and phoned them up to be assured that I was actually insured to ride my bike around - wouldn't have been a pleasant conversation with the police otherwise.

It took 32 minutes on hold, calling at 5pm on a Friday, before I gave up.

It took 17 minutes for them to answer the phone calling at 9:30 Saturday.

I wouldn't hold out high hopes of decent customer service given those kinds of waiting times, and I dread the thought of having to call them again to e.g. send NCB proof for my next insurer, or cancel auto-renewal. There's a point at which the time spent waiting on the phone exceeds the savings from the next higher priced insurance, and Principal hit that point for me very early on in the relationship.
