 |

getting an nsr 125 r 03. After browsing the workshop i noticed lots of people saying there engine has blown after a d. restriction. Is this due to it being done improperly or is derestriction a fast way to kill your nsr? also when i am planning on drestricting mine, i am just going to do the exhaust drilling the welds and the air intake. Will this be ok, or is it going to go boom? |

Hi,
I own an NSR (as you can see in my avatar) but what difference will be felt if it was derestricted? would it pull away alot smoother and quicker?
I know it will have a quicker top end speed, but i am not too bothered about going 90ish miles per hour and getting caught by the police! (most of my travelling is done in and around london anyway). If it pulls away from traffic lights alot quicker and smoother then i might want to do it.
Mine is not derestricted, but i was thinking of having a go at derestricting it in the summer with the help of a mechanic friend as a kind of project. Basically is it worth it? I plan on keeping my bike untill the summer of 2006.
JakeyC if yours is an import NSR then it may not have some of the restrictions shown on nsr125.com. I think imports have restrictions in the CDI.
Not too sure.
Cheers!

Derestriction may add about 10mph on top, but the main difference is the acceleration. It should rev easier and therefore get into the powerband a lot sooner. I've ridden my mates NS125R which was restricted and he left me standing when he took off on mine Once you get to about 40mph, the restricted bike will struggle getting higher, but the full power bike will continue to take off up to 80. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/fuzzbcf/
