Ah but he is banned for two years so it's not so bad, he might have
to take his test to get his licence back.

2 months is a long time in prison, I did 3 months myself and it felt
like years.

He shouldn't be allowed his licence back at all. If I did something like that to someone (knowingly as he obviously did and didn't even stop) I wouldn't want to go back on the roads. My Grandad was killed by a agricultural vehicle and his sentence was not that much longer than the idiot above. They have proved they are not competent enough to drive a vehicle. Its not just about driving skill, its about human decency. If you know someone is hurt any half decent person would stop. Although I did notice he was training to become a lawyer..... Wink

All he had to do was STOP and help the chap to prove he was a decent member of society. He did not..

Hope he gets to pick up the soap.

£300 is adding insult to injury in my opinion. Its like saying "We reckon your life will be as good as having both legs if you have 1 leg and £300". i know which id prefer. They should remove the drivers leg and give it to the biker. only fair option!

Wasnt he driving without a license anyway? so what use is a ban?

Shite isn't it?

One bloke gets locked up for a few weeks (when it comes down to it) and has to take the bus for a couple of years. Oh, and the massive £300 he has to pay - I got fined more than that for speeding on a motorway!

The other bloke has lost one of his legs and will probably never walk again properly!

How's that fair?

The British justice system is screwed, I'm guessing partly because most of the prisons are already full anyway.

I read another shocker the other day, an illegal immigrant who has been refused citizenship 3 times ran over a 12 year old boy uninsured, without license, illegal in the country and he killed the little boy. Given 8 weeks imprisonment, makes me sick. Sick

That's fucking outrageous frankly. It wasn't so long ago a biker was locked up for breaking the speed limit (think he was sentenced to a month) and this bloke has ruined someone elses life by maiming them and gets a two month sentence which means he'll be out in a month.

Hopefully the biker has a civil claim underway for damages which should get him some compensation, although I'm not sure how much cash would compensate me for losing a leg. Poor bastard.

And it's speeding that causes accidents is it Mr Blair? eh? Wankers.

Gets better folks, under New Labours tariff laws, he'll only serve 28 days, minus any timehemay have already done on remand!

Absolutely shocking.

Doubt he'll get much compensation, the twat in question was a 23 year old law student, won't be much cash lying around there.

I don't know, some states in America still have capital punishment Thumbs Up Obviously the guy does not deserve to be sentenced to death but he deserves a hell of a lot more than what he has been given. What I think is wrong is that the majority of the country would agree that he deserves a harsher punishment. Surely the Government should reflect what the people of this country want? Its just crazy.......... Sorry Tony but your a knob.

Bollocks yeah, forgot that the arsehole wasn't insured - hopefully he'll get something out of the fund that exists for the victims of uninsured drivers (is it the AIB)

Don't honestly know how the bloke can live with himself - can you imagine driving off with a chap attached to the car screaming his head off - what a sicko.

Maybe the BMF and MAG should send members round to his house every day, just to - you know - "say hello"

Hang on a minute, look at the story in the link below. Bloke paralysed after getting knocked off his bike wins £4.4m. Now I know being paralysed is a bit worse than losing a leg, but £300 to £4,400,000? There's no consistancy there at all!

Don't know what that £300 actually is meant to be for but that £4.4m will have been paid by that drivers insurance company and I'd expect that the person who lost his left foot is claiming from the driver's insurance and will get a far more than £300.

The biker wasnt attached to the car, The bikers foot was ripped off by the car and was stuck in the bumper.

Was this the guy who turned himself in because when he got home he later realised that his reg plated had fallen off at the scene of the accident Laughing

What a c0ck!

I really feel for the poor biker. I have both my feet, ok they dont work properly, and sometimes I think my life is shit having to wear a brace around each ancle. That poor biker is going to have to wear a false foot. Sad

and 2 months! Shocked If he is good he will do 1 month! the justice system is a discrace! And they wonder why more people are leaving britain than imigrents are comming in...

Theres no "Great" left in Great Britain, its a shithole! (well most of it any way!)

Ok, rant over, Im off to bed!

This issue is also posted at the foc-u.co.uk (fazers owners club - unofficial) website and there is talk of organising a ride out in protest (amongst other things). The story has also been picked up on the MCN website.

The foc-u.co.uk website seems to have more insight to the whole affair and it turns out the drivers father was a top solicitor who may have pulled a few strings.

Go to https://p196.ezboard.com/ffazerownersfrm1.showMessage?topicID=26876.topic for more details.

You should read the news item again Ste. The driver wasn't insured, so he'll get sweet FA!

Makes me sick that people actually feel compelled to drive away after doing something like this. Fucking coward!!

I hope he meets some bikers while he's in prison... should be an 'interesting conversation' when he explains why he's in there to the other in-mates.

One thing I suppose will happen is that his career in law will be pretty much shafted now. Pangs of irony that a law student was breaking the laws that he would probably someday have fought for or against...

Still makes him a tosser though. Evil or Very Mad

If thats the case I'd be organising the heavy team to go round and pay the chap a visit after he got out of prison. Being knocked off is bad enough but having your foot ripped off too?

Guy deserves a more severe punishment than that. Justice system is to lenient towards criminals in this country.

Hmmm, law student. Says a lot. Shouldn't he have been more responsible. Do they let you become a lawyer with a conviction?

Expect daddy will see him alright Mad

I expect the CPS didn't want to risk a charge of Dangerous Driving and him getting off completely free, as from what I gather it's Careless Driving if the driving falls below the standard expected of a reasonable, prudent and competent driver. Dangerous driving is harder to prove (see click here for examples) although the penalties appear similar.

Knowing how to manipulate the law makes a mockery out of justice. If people perceive that there isn't any justice then the law is seen as an ass and gets no respect.

Some people may say the driver has to live with his actions but given the previous conviction I doubt any remorse is shown and he probably couldn't give a damn about the life he's mangled.
