Belgarda Yamaha TDR125

Hi All,

I've just picked up a scruffy TDR125 Italian import which I plan on restoring and improving to enable me to use it as a daily driver around the city.

I bought the bike via ebay for far too much money but would have ripped it to bits anyway, however I have to do it because its such a dog (sorry dogs!).

The main issues I've come across so far is the fork leg missing a brake calliper mount and pitted fork chrome so these will go onto my shopping list. My friend is a bike painter by trade so will be doing my body kit but what I've got is awful, especially around the back end.

I'm off to France in September on holiday with our dogs so will be looking at picking up some stuff whilst I'm over there including a DT200R engine and alloy swing-arm.

If anyone on here owns one like mine or has any parts in good condition going spare please give me a shout! I'll be building the TDR up this winter alongside my M900 project so there's no rush - got to build the garage first!

Any help / comments etc on the Belgarda TDR would be most helpful

Sounds an interesting project and resto indeed!

Oh and you've secured yourself a rare bird of a motor too. All the 200cc versions of 80's> trail bikes are hard to find. I payed about £350 last year for an eBay KMX200 engine delivered. Its got plenty of damage to the cases, but if the internals are useable then they will help me make a 125/200 hybrid lump, when I actually get around to it that is.

Yes I've missed a 200R recently on ebay which went for about 800 quid.

As you can guess I'm into my italian stuff and old two strokes so the TDR is ideal for me. Plus I've had loads of 125lc's and DTR's as well so know how to work on them with my eyes closed.

Bikes must be cheap in France as they are appearing on eBay uk all the time now. Might see how far the old holiday money will stretch this year....

That's definitely the way to do it, lots of cheap supermarket lager, stay in a tent on a cheap campsite and cook your own meals too. Should be able to fill a car with goodies galore then!

Going with GF = no slumming it!!

Looking at a motolug trailer as well for next year so I can only use it if I buy something as Brittany Ferries charge you for absolutely every extra they can including trailers.

Trying to figure out what the nose weight is for my Renault Trafic as I'd like to take the TDR around the UK / France with us on one of those tow bar mounted racks but fear it may be too heavy to carry it legally. I'm not 100% on the weight but know its damn heavy for a weeny 125cc bike!

Hi

Forks are probably shared with a few other bikes. Can be rechromed easily enough, but welding a brake caliper mount worries me a touch.

I do have an owners handbook for the TDR somewhere.

Hiya

Far few other makers used Paoli forks (eg, plenty of Aprilias) so hopefully a vase of working out which one also uses it.

Hi

Think most Cagiva used Marzocchi suspension. A lot of Aprilias use Paoli, maybe not marked that obviously though.

Worth checking carefully. The Yamahas built in Italy (Belgarda was / is the Italian Yamaha importer) used a lot of generic parts.
