Thanks people, well finally got here and I have no clue what to get.
Everyone says different things about the bikes I like.

Basically I want a 400 sports bike (Insurance purposes) something like a VFR/RVF or GSXR400, ZX400R.
But I have been told horror stories about them all, I;m really worried now I might be buying something that is going to cost the earth.
Any one got some advice?

well done, and about time Laughing

as far as a bike, you know what ill say, so i wont bother

but get a vfr400, brilliant bikes, just dont get skidmarx fairings.

older cbr600f mirrors fit and allow a little more than your elbow...not much but a little more.

but hurry up and get a bike.

Ok well I have narrowed this down and I hope someone can see what I’m saying here.
I want a 400 because I’m sure insurance should be ok, and I don’t really want a 600 yet as there could be a right handful, I have been riding for around 5 years now and have no claims.
In terms of build quality for these 400’s I think it has been said (best first), Honda, Yamaha, Kwak’s and then finally Suzuki.
So I have decided on the VFR, or RVF.
I have noticed something though, there is a RVF at my local garage, nice condition, not to thrashed for £2500.
I have been looking around the market for prices and found some identical bikes with similar mileage and there is almost a grand in difference. What is it that makes this happen??

Thanks Thumbs Up

For a lot of the 400s depends on if UK original or grey import from Japan. UK is worth more (don't know why, think probably because of warranty issues). A lot of price difference is also what the market in a certain area can take, you sell for what people are prepared to pay.

FYI any aftermarket kit shouldn't add any significant extra to the cost, although dealers will probably try and convince you otherwise (if that was the case they'd add it to trade-in value - they don't). In fact original condition would be worth slightly more (so apart from MOTs another good reason for keeping the original end cans).

HTH Thumbs Up

Nice one Killa mate!
the bikes yuo've narrowed it down too in the 400 class are the right ones too consider. just pick whihc one you like best or can get a good deal on as they are all evenly matched. I will say now tho that the V4's are a pain in the ass to work on.
