Overoptimistic tour plan - Morocco to UK by C90

Hi all,

This may come to nothing if the bureaucracy is too demanding.

A few years ago, my other half and I visited Marrakech. As a motorcycle nut, I was amazed at the number of Honda C90 copies there were out there. Additionally, they were cheap, which sowed a seed.

"What if I were to fly to Marrakech, buy a bike and ride it back to England?"

The idea has never left me but I don't know whether I would be allowed to take the bike across Europe and into the UK. I realise that emissions may be an issue, so would need to get the relevant technical specs for a Morocco-registered machine. Additionally, if I were to try and keep it in the UK, I may have to get it quarantined before it can be re-registered. There's also the small matter of insurance.

I've sent an email to Overlanders as a starting point but does anyone have any experience or knowledge on the legal and paperwork requirements?

Buy it ....... ride home....... then worry about bureaucracy once it's in Blighty........ what are the authority's going to do? Make you take it back?

Wouldn't bother, I'd do it the other way. Spain, France etc not that interesting, require insurance and registration. Don't need that in Africa, you just need bribes.
