Put two new tyres on. Used the zip-tie method.
Also used some hose pipe cut length ways as rim protector.
Also Irwin heavy duty speed clamps for bead breaking. |

Oh dear.
But otoh, perfect opportunity to fit a ZZR1100 lump? |
which was genuinely the first option i looked at
Unfortunately for me the head on the zzr has down draught carbs which won't clear the frame without major mods IE a gpz1100 head, zzr cams etc etc
|
But there's a common engine swap for these, isn't there? GPZ1000? ZX10? Only needs one mounting slightly altering or something? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tremendously pleased with the turbo pig, and quite proud to have lost a whole digit off the timing slip. On the friday the best I could run was a 10.0046, and I was somewhat convinced I just couldn't get it off the line well enough to get to the 9's. In the end I started running against a GSXR-1000 straightline bike, we got talking and he gave me a few pointers that got me the extra tenth and a bit. I ended up running a couple of 9s, I had to leave the bike to cool for about an hour and a half between runs to keep the heat away. I see why people run intercoolers now!
A few more pics from the weekend.

Sorry about the dodgy quality of these, they are camera'd off some hard copies I have.

This one I like, the Bandit has the poke to wheely through 1st, 2nd and 3rd even when extended and the game is to keep it down. In this pic I had failed and it's still carrying the front wheel almost to the 1/8th mile. Slow run but great fun!

Ah...commiserations...reckon you've got a head gasket situation? |
Hopefully not. I'm yet to run this engine. Managed to get the sump off and clean 20+ years of shite out of the gauze filters etc
This engine has been sat for years now, unsealed. By that i mean the oil cooler lines were off and the plugs out of the head, no intake or exhaust fitted etc so moisture could easily find its way in. I think (hope) that most of the colour is just the oil mixing with the water and after a few heat cycles and a couple of oil changes it will be back to normal |

Hi
Looked at the front brake on one of the Freccias (the one still needing putting together properly). Pulling the lever and it felt like it was grinding. Felt awful, but couldn't see anything wrong. Take the lever off and it felt smooth.
Eventually landed up with some fluid squirting out of the brake line. Turns out the line was leaking and the grinding feel was fluid getting out of the inner part of the line (rubber hose). Suppose one advantage of a braided line in comparison is that when they burst you get no brakes at all instantly .
Changed the hose for a spare (need to source a new one) and bled the brakes. All smooth now.
Washed the bodywork, and then used T Cut on it. Hasn't been washed in a long time (probably not this century). Slowly getting bit together for it
All the best
