I am looking at possibly purchasing a SV650 soon. However seeing as there is a difference between the insurance rating of the faired and unfaired versions (SV650 & SV650S), i may have to opt for buying the unfaired version.
Is it possible however to purchase a fairing, to put on the bike as an aftermarket product?
I would love to have the fairing from the SV1000 on the SV650.

anyone know if this is at all possible?

cheers for any help.

There is one insurance group difference yes, this probably equates to about 50p difference in your pocket. Get the faired version, it'll cost you more in the long run to modify the naked version, and nobody will want to buy it when you sell it. Tart Razz

yeah, i am a tart lol. Even if i do get the half faired version, i was wondering if it was possible to get the full fairing style of the SV1000. just looks so much better than the naked.

And if you was to go for the one in the lower insurance bracket and then modify it, Surely it would need to be registered as a "modified vehicle"... Somthing which Jimbos Moped isnt! Wink

Lets not even mention mine! Laughing

It'd cost more to convert a 650 into an "S" than it would to buy an S in the first place and insure it Smile Just get the S it'll save you time, money and hassle!

The body fairing is an aftermarket thing, SV1000's are semi-naked from standard, you can get lower fairings for the SV650 anyway.

Honestly, the slightly higher insurance will be no where near as expensive as trying to convert a naked into an S

You will need, (at least)

Arrow SV-S top fairing
Arrow SV-S clocks
Arrow SV-S top yoke
Arrow SV-S clip ons
Arrow New brake lines, possibly clutch and so on but you might get away with them being a bit slack.
Arrow SV-S fairing mounts
Arrow All associated fixings/brackets etc.

That will cost a LOT of money.

p.s. that'll be the curvy style pre 03 fairings, K3/4 fairings will NOT fit, completely different style/shape/different frame etc.

They are just aftermarket fairing lowers, if you buy a K3/K4 SV650 naked you can probably fit the fairing lowers, but not the upper.. you won't get them to fit on an older SV at all though.

You would need to change a lot to get the upper fairing to fit the SV650N and it'd be way too much hassle/money compared to buying an S in the first place.

https://www.skidmarx.co.uk/prices_fairings.htm

SV650 fairing is listed there, but no pictures; it's a bit difficult to make out exactly what it is.

well in that case i could get the SV650s.....specially as having looked at insurance quotes, it wouldnt be that much more expensive. Its the lower body fairing that im interested in as it makes teh bike look so much more complete and sporty. i would probably get a newer model also.

You can pick the lower fairings up on Ebay from around £100 or so I think. You might be able to get a bit more information on the forums at https://www.sv650.org.
