Hello all,

My K6 GSXR 1000 FI light comes up and flashes at random times. If I turn my ignition off and back on again, the FI flashing light disappears. It's happened three times in the last 350 miles/2 days.

Nothing appears to be wrong, bike runs fine; even with the FI light flashing.

Is there anyway to check what this FI light translates into (i'm assuming an error code of some form?). I'm hoping it's a quick easy method, so I can just check what the code is at the road side next time it decides to having a flashing fit.

TIA.

There is a 6 pin white plug somewhere under the seat, it's not connected to anything and just had a plug cap on. This is for the Suzuki diagnostics tool. If you take the cap off, I think only 4 of the 6 ports have pins in them.

On my Vstrom, you simply need to bridge the connection between the white/red wire and the black/white wire with anything conductive. Paperclip, wire etc...

This puts the bike into dealer mode and the dash should flash up with a C00 code which is the error code which you will then need to look up.

If there are multiple errors, it will switch between the error codes every 2 seconds.

When you switch the bike off it may wipe the error code, but if you ride along until the error happens, don't switch the bike off, find the dealer mode plug and bridge it, it will then flag the error code. Alternatively you can ride the bike in dealer mode. As with Vstrom, of the FI light goes on it goes into limp mode and with go above 60mph. Riding in dealer mode overrides this.

You can get wired plugs with a length long enough that the switch can be accessed with out removing any panels or seat etc...

I had one of these permanently plugged into my GSXR to diagnose an FI fault and just switched it if the FI light came on and then recorded the code.

I got one of these:

I have the same generation of bike but in a 750 variant.

Same issue, nothing really wrong and like others have said get the bike into dealer mode to get the code.

Mine turned out to be with the motor that controls the exhaust valve, seemed to be fairly common. A quick adjustment of the cables and all is well again.

No loss of power during riding with the FI light on and would reset when turned off and on. Also sporadic in when it would happen.
