I'd say New Tim, but he's Old. How confusing would that be?
Sorry, chap, you're going to have to change your name.
Best of luck with the tests, regardless of what name you take them under. There's a lot of flap and fuss about them, but they're really not that hard.
Mod 1 is over before you know it, and Mod 2 is just a nice ride out. It doesn't matter where you go, as long as you go there confidently and carefully.
Do you have a bike in mind for when you're licensed up? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Kawasaki Versys would be my recommendation for a "back to bikes" bike for a big chap like you.
The 650 engine is straight out of the ER6f/Z650 with respectable but manageable performance and good fuel economy. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Good shout, or a V-Strom 650. Depending on budget, Tigers would be in the running. I don't think there are any really bad "adventure" stylee bikes made in the past decade out there, unless you buy a boomerang R1200GS that needs recalls more often than refills. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Hi Tim, firstly good luck with the mods.
Re finding a suitable bike, this site https://cycle-ergo.com/ is really useful. basically you put your height in, the model of the bike, and your preferred seating position. It will then show you the posture you would have on said bike with feet up or down.

Another vote for a V-Strom. Had a 650 before I decided I'd like a naked IL4. Upright, very comfy seat, great view of the road, easy to handle and will be very kind to your hip and also very economical.
Good luck with the tests! |

Of course you could get a nice big comfortable tourer like my Trophy. The heated seats are a real luxury for those aching bones when it gets cold and wet.
Not that I have any intention of riding my bike when it is cold and wet ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Welcome back to bikes
6ft 4 and17 stone though slightly younger at 46
Currently riding a Yamaha xj6na with no problems fit wise very forgiving and IMO with enough oomph for fun if that's your thing
Though others may disagree 77hp is enough to start with |
