Can things get any worse Evil or Very Mad
Yesterday my lights stoped working. Front and back. Now all the indicators, horn, starter motor and brake lights work (these run direct from battery) but my Lights (headlights and tail light) are not working at all.
Its really p1ssing me off because I planned to go out tonight. I Had it my way Id of taped a torch to the handle bars and gone for it. But my mom and dad are still treating me as their responibility and wont let me. Rolling Eyes

Ive riped my foot well out to get to the CDI unit and rectifier. Ive put a different rectifier on and still nothing.
Ive also done a circuit check with one of them electric screwdrivers and there isnt any power geting to the light switch from the power source. So its not the switch.

I dont have a clue where the alternator is (it says there is one in the Haynes manual) so I cant check if the wires are broken.

Any help much apreciated.

Its a Pug Speedfight. 1995.

Ive a feeling its the "alternator" or whatever the substitute for the alternator on scooters is. In the haynes manual it says that if the headlights are out, but the indicators work, then its either the "alternator" or the Rectifier.

Now ive got 3 rectifiers in my garage (Which I know they work) so my guess is that its the "alternator"

Hopefully its just a broken wire tho! Cool

The battery just dosent seem to be charging Sad

Would It be safe to run a fresh wire from the fusebox to the headlights (which will power the taillight too) and put it through a second switch (for the time being) or is it advised I dont do this as it may kill my battery?

with a multimeter! Laughing

If the alternator shagged then it wont start (assuming its electric start) and no lights will work, because the battery will go dead quite quickly. try and trace the wires along the positive feed and see if any connections have shaken loose and thatnothing is shorting out. thats about all you can do without a multimeter or new bits to swap on it to find the fault.

you should be able to steal or "borrow" one of those from your school or college technology department rather than forking out for one.
