MOT runs out on my bike in april sometime, I am going to england over Easter, Will I be able to get my bike mot'd early?
I will have the standard can and plate on you see, (just for the trip) and she's mot ready, over here there's still a waiting list,

Oh and will anyone here be on cat & fiddle easter sunday?

Thanks Wink

I'm pretty sure you can but you'd lose the difference in weeks / days. Would that matter?

C & F on Easter Sunday! Mucho Policia.

If you take it for a test prior to 1 calender month of the existing licence expiring you can get a 13 month certificate.

Any earlier than this and you will get a normal 12 months.

For example,

Assume your current certificate expires 1st April 2005
If you took it for a test 1st March and it passed you would get a certificate that expires 1st April 2006, 13 months. This is to account for the month of march 05 which it is already certificated for.

If you took it in on 28th Feb, you certificate will exp 1st March 06. this is because they only allow advance testing of 1 month.

Hope that helps Smile

Hi

You can happily use a mainland MOT in NI, and on the mainland the MOTs are done by garages so there should not ever be a waiting list.

My father used to quite often land up getting the ferry to Stranraer and used the MOT station there as it was far quicker than waiting for an appointment at 'Ards.

All the best

Keith

Thank you people.
I have just put the standard plates back on, they look soooo big!!
I'm not sure what to do. I don't really want to change cans for my trip, as one of my reasons for going is to show off my bike to my brothers, who have had bikes for years.
From what i've seen/heard there is always fuzz on cat and fiddle, i'll take it easy anyway, are they known for pulling bikes and checking things like cans/plates?
I have heard the welsh cops like to stop bikes for silly things, that's why ive changed my small plate over to the bigger one.

Welsh Police? Oh yes.

Although the C & F road is not in wales I wouldn't chance it anyway as it is policed.

If you are going into Wales expect to be pulled. Really is best to keep the bike legal over here. Our chief of police is not very biker friendly. It's got to the point were a lot of english bikers don't come here on Sundays. Laughing

If you're legal you'll be fine though. Karma

If you put in for MOT here (NI) you will get an excemption certificate, so this will cover you for going to the mainland.
I have one for my car, MOT was up in FEB , MOT is in May, it covers for you to get tax as well. Cool

Have you tried calling different centres, try Mallusk, Ards or Downpatrick. You could try calling everyday , you might get a cancellation from someone else and take there place. Cool

I'll be back home in time to get mot, It just would be handy to get it done over there while I have the legal can and plate on her.

I wouldn't chance it with no licence! But I'm cautious.
