Hi
I have around 3-4K to spend, and fancy something a bit different. It will be only my second bike, what does everyone think of the africa twin (good or bad)
I.m big enough to handle it I think (6'1" 15st) the engine not so big and it would be great for when i go camping (sometimes the access roads are sh*te)
I can pick a 1999 - 2001 model up for around 3500
cheers
Beatts
P.S Im not into sports bikes, need to keep my license for my job etc etc plus I like a bit of comfort, and prefer the sit up and beg riding style. |

They are a better built, slightly more powerfull silghtly more off road biast bike than the transalp (which i have)
You'll be fine with it, i'm 5'8 and the ta is only slightly shorter than the at... the standard seat isn't great (comfort wise) they are ok off road, they have been raced in the paris dakar, but you'd have to be insane to use them for serious offroading..
I'd have personally got the at if i could have (changed the seat) they just seem that bit better built, even though most of the parts are more or less the same...

was looking at them recently during my bike hunt, the seat is very moto-x orientated and the engine is a bit weedy on the power
you could get a 955i triumph tiger for the same money, which i believe, would deliver far more grins, a bigger tank range, and a comfy seat, can you tell which i went for ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |
