Ok I've got a small petrol leak from the petrol tap. I can see a small hole in what looks like some kind of seal. Can I just use a bit of blue tac as a temporary fix?

You can try but it wont be enough to stop it.

It will fall off when you go over bumps anyway.

Gasket glue does the trick.
