Hi & Merry Christmas

Have a k4 gixxer 6 since Oct and seemed to be fine. Yesterday turned it on and sw 'c00' displayed - no idea what it means. Looked it up online and all i could understand is that it means 'no codes' maybe no error; but it still displays. Had a power commander and aftermarket can in case that's relevant.

Any ideas what the code means? The FI light does not come on.

What is the problem and does the fuel pump prime or makes a noise when switching on?
Also has it displayed a CHEC code?

A quick google indicates it's something to do with the throttle position sensor.

Its a common problem with many suzuki's that the TPS will get out of alignment. A common symptom is the secondary throttle valve actuator will make a lot of noise as it cant find correct position. It is also common that the secondary throttle shafts can rust and seize. I fixed both problems on a DL650, 2008 I think it was.

Get access to the throttles, check everthing moves freely, then adjust the TPS position while turning the key on and off until any bad noise/codes disapear. When the bike is turned on it will seek the full range of the tps, so should make some noise.

C00 means no fault on the bike. Check under the seat to see if someone has done the paperclip trick or fitted a dealer switch to bridge the wires in the connector block which allows the bike to be put into dealer mode. If that has been done and you turn the bike ignition on with the killswitch off it will display a C code.

Did you start it up? Has the killswitch been knocked? Check the obvious first before fretting about throttle positions. Did you have the FI light on previously and its now gone? They don’t display codes by themselves without being put in dealer mode first.

Ride a bike thats telling you it doesn’t have a problem? Yes, but I would find out why it was showing you the C00 code when you apparently haven’t taken any of the steps to get it to show one.

When it does display this, what position is the minus sign before it?
-C00 is normal.

presuming it still starts

when my tps went tits up on a Yamaha I had it cost just under a grand to have sorted
also fucked the starter motor as well (that was a design fault with the model)

Disconnect the Power Commander and then see where the minus is. I fitted a PCV on my k6 which was fine until it started cutting out at traffic lights and being very lumpy. I put it in dealer mode and the minus symbol was in the upper position, removing the PCV put it back in the middle and no more issues.

Start eliminating easy to fix stuff first.

They can be if not correctly set up for your bike. It needs to have an appropriate map for your bike, model, year and exhaust for a start! Ideally take it somewhere that can set it up for you rather than downloading one from the PC website. I thought mine was good but apparently it was the root cause of my issues.

Good news that the code has gone, keep an eye on it though.
