It's not intrusive. But works better with the more smart devices that you have.
I don't have many devices, just Google Home and my phone/watch.

I used to send a text to the wife to let her know when I leave work and she'd begin getting dinner ready. I now let IFTTT take care of it (When I leave a specific area, send message).
I also have it switch wifi off when I leave my house, and on again when I am back again.

The downside is that sometimes it takes ages for the applet to kick in. So I'll wander through the door then my wife'll get a message telling her that I've left.

A little, mainly for specific light functions, i.e. to make my hue lights scroll through colours.

Not that impressed, it needs to be able to do more than one thing at a time (currently only available to developers)

Internet and downloading the open version is the best fix there.

It will be in use across my house when purchased. We've been using it quite a bit and the possibilities are pretty damn sick Thumbs Up

I use it for quite a few things, I have Hive, Alexa and some smart plugs. You can set it up to trigger different things off different sayings when talking to Alexa. It doesn't do everything I need on its own but I have found combining it with some Alexa skills has worked pretty well.

Its good at keeping the different things synced like lists/calenders on different platforms etc. and also plumbing different IoT platforms together i.e when I get home (location from my iphone) turn on the lights downstairs (hive plugs).

The first thing I used it for was the ios buttons you can put in your shortcuts. Hive was annoying me that it was so much finger work to boost the heating Very Happy now I just swipe right and press.

That's where Stringify comes in. In theory. I haven't been able to use it to any kind of capacity so far.

It saves faffing round the room turning the lights on. Before hive I had the remote plugs. Now it uses motion detection and location, it was good when the little one was born as you can just walk in to the room and the lights come on rather than having to juggle baby and bottles to find teh light switch. That is more hive that ifft though.

I had a bit of a dabble with IFTTT as already had a couple of echos, philips hue lights and a ring doorbell and motion sensors. I did find it useful for a couple of things..like if someone rings the door bell itll turn the hall light on at night and mute and pause the TV etc, also flashes the room lights where you wont hear the doorbell etc. I'm waiting for my wifi Salus central heating controller to be supported tho!! both with alexa and ifttt!

That's what I didn't like about IFTTT - it could be really laggy at times. I use Tasker for this (sending 'I'm here ok' texts to the wife when arriving at work etc) - it has been a lot more robust.

That's another good thing about SmartThings, it does a lot of the simple processing on the local hub, so it doesn't need to wait for cloud-services to do things. I'm not sure I'd want to rely on IFTTT for any home control stuff.

I use it for that too!

I've also set up some applets so that I can voice control Jenkins software build / deployment jobs via the Assistant on my phone. Mainly for the lolz.

Apparently they sent the code for approval end of 2017 so they said they hoped it would be available first quarter 2018 if not late 2017!!

Edit: things like ask alexa the current temp and voice control set temp, boost for an hour etc...I'll have a look again later
